Facilities and Faculty of CUSAT Kochi

CUSAT School of Legal Studies provides an overall holistic experience with good balance of both academic and cultural programs. This college is located at the heart of Kochi with a metro station, supermarkets, and places of residence. The campus provides a clean and free environment to pursue studies with great infrastructure facilities such as a large library, a large seminar hall, & many other facilities. Students who are interested in pursuing Law will be able to build a strong academic background as well as build a strong resume with the opportunities they will be presented with.

The academics of the college are good. It provides students with real life experience. The admission process is simple. One has to be passed in 12th standard with at least 70% marks. After that, they have to give entrance exam named CUSAT entrance test.

The fee is a much cheaper for Law as compared to other institutes. Based on the rank secured by each student in the entrance test (CUSAT entrance Test), the fee structure is decided. The fee ranges from Rs. 36,000 to Rs. 40,000 based on each semester. Concessions are available for PWD, SC, and ST students.

The faculty in the CUSAT SLS campus is experienced and has subject experts in its ranks. Each Law subject has a dedicated permanent faculty member. The teachers encourage interactions with the students and have deep knowledge on each of their subjects. The temporary faculty for the business and Economic subjects are also subject experts from different departments. The teachers make use of blackboards and presentations while teaching and rely on an interactive system of teaching which involves the student as well. The teachers are always ready to help the students with doubts, material and even help to find internship opportunities if the need arises.

Currently, there is a placement cell for all the departments including the School of Legal studies. As of now, the Legal department encourages students to get into further studies rather than avail the facility of the placement cell.

There are two blocks in total for the students pursuing legal studies: the main block, which houses the students pursuing B.Com.LL.B and BBA.LL.B, & the ICREP block that houses the students pursuing B.Sc. LLB. The campus spans over a very large area with services such as the amenity center, two cafes, an infirmary, and a university library. There is also a seminar hall where most events take place. It is easily accessible from anywhere in the campus. There is a ground that can be used by students from all the departments and an indoor badminton court.

The university has largest student populations in Kerala, hence, it is a prime site for TV channels and movie promotions. These happen often and students will be able o take part in these. There are extensive clubs and organizations such as Arts, Sports, and other activities such as Drama activities. There is an annual arts festival named ‘Sargam’ and a yearly Management fest called ‘Talentime’. Other than this there are various smaller clubs within the School of Legal Studies, which include the Model united Nation Club and the Quiz club.
