MUJ Jaipur's CSE B.Tech Course: MET, Fees, and Exams

Things I like about MUJ include the freedom we experience here. It is upon you weather you want to make yourself or break yourself. However, it teaches you to be in control if you dare to learn. You can follow any passion you want to. There are many facilities here. Also tons of clubs as per your liking. Getting permissions is not that hard if you compare with other private institutes. The exposure is good. The university and hostel architecture is aesthetic and beautiful. It builds your confidence, teaches you how to face things and people. Some teachers are supportive here and genuinely care. Although, The friends will not necessarily be like your school friends. You do need to study on your own. Placements are average, while the fees are too high. I would not suggest taking any loan for coming here.

The course chosen by me is CSE B.Tech. I like this course because it revolves around logic. You need to pass the merit in the MET entrance test. You will be eligible to any branch depending on your MET rank. You can also apply directly through the university’s official website. I applied through both. For direct, they check your 12th /10th marks for branch allocation and its first come first, serve basis. I liked the location of MUJ, Jaipur. The course curriculum is good and somewhat progressive than many small government colleges. Although, the implementation could be made better. There are 8 sems. Each sem, there are two exams- mid terms (30) and end terms (40). Rest 30 marks are internal marks given for assignments, quiz etc.

B.Tech CSE is a four-year course and the fees generally vary as time passes by. More likely, it varies every year. I paid a total fee of Rs. 3,88,000. However, right now, the fee structure is Rs. 4,10,000 (annual tuition fee), Rs. 10,000 (registration fee- one time), Rs. 15,000 (caution deposit- refundable). There can be two types of scholarships. Firstly, the first three toppers get fee waiver. And secondly, the students who were in a range of 5000 rank in the entrance test, after reviewing their parents financial status, the fee waiver is decided. Also, these need a GPA criteria of 8.00 or above each semester to maintain the scholarship.

There are various kinds of faculty members here. Some are really good, some are okayish. When it comes to B.Tech CSE, faculty to student ratio is decent. Some of the faculty is supportive. Most of them have completed their PhDs and many have a good experience in other universities. Method of teaching is both white boards and PPTs. They provide you the PPTs. They have a decent problem solving skills. They are approachable, atleast most of them. The university has faculty blocks where you can contact the teachers during their office hours.

Many students here join with an aim of higher studies (especially abroad) or family business thereafter. The placement though is average around 8 LPA -9 LPA. Internship opportunities are limited to be honest. You mostly have to find on your own.

The university ties up with the GHS hostels. The facilities in these hostels are good. Girls’ and boys’ hostels are separate. Till now, there are a total of 12 boys blocks and 7 girls blocks. They have 2 messes, 2 gyms, an indoor game room, multiple basketball and badminton courts and an upstairs lawn. Mess food quality has really improved and is better than many colleges in India. The hostel in time is 9 PM and the block in timing is 11 PM. Hostel room fee is Rs. 1,65,000. Mess fee is Rs. 73,000. These two are compulsory. Rest, gym fee is Rs. 11,550, laundry is Rs. 7,950.

The campus is clean and beautiful. It has a unique and aesthetic architecture with a touch of Jaipur. There are 3 academic blocks in total and more blocks are being built. Size is good enough and is located 30 km away from the main Jaipur city. It takes about an hour to reach airport. The classrooms are good enough and can accommodate around 50-60 students. There is one central library in the dome building and another law library in academic block. There are also many food outlets and cafes at every corner of the blocks. There are also well-equipped labs with working computers.

The social life is good. The clubs are diverse and organize many events. There is one annual fest called ‘Oneiros’. It usually lasts for 3 days. Last year we had Siddharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna, The Nalayak Band and Gajendra Verma as main artists. This year we had Amaal Malik as the main artist. The university crowd is average. I am a part of the club called LITMUS. It is a reading and literature club. Overall the campus life is pretty much happening with lots of small events organized by the clubs.
