Jabalpur Engineering College: Everything You Need to Know

Overall Rating
JEC is the most affordable and the oldest college in central India. The reason most people come here is its ROI i.e. Return of Investment. It is widely recognized for its mechanical branch. It has the largest boilers lab in the state. My experience has been satisfactory. For anyone joining this one and wanting a technical branch, AIDS would be the best choice as it is very flexible with fewer restrictions.
 

Academics Rating
The B-tech admissions are taken through MP DTE counseling which happens after JEE Main and the cut off usually vary from 95 to 89 percentile for top branches (for a gen male candidate). After all, MP DTE counseling rounds, a CLC is also conducted at college level through which one might even get a higher branch at lower ranks. It totally depends on lucks and seats available. The admission process involves submission of a few documents like migration certificate, TC, domicile, etc. The curriculum involves 2 mid semester exams followed by one-end semester exams in each semester.
The tuition fee usually varies from Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 15,000. The best thing about this college is that your whole B.Tech degree would cost you less that 1.5 Lakh. The admission renewal fee is just 969 per year. On the top of which, if you are eligible for MMVY scholarship then your tuition fees would get reduced to 0.
 

Faculty Rating
My department was established in 2021 so initially it did not have many faculty members But as of now, there are enough faculty members. Some classes in our department have smart boards, while some do not. Most teachers in our department rely on ppts for teaching but in other departments, the most used method is the traditional one instead. Some teachers are quite knowledgeable, whereas some lack basic knowledge. But most teachers are quite supportive. Most labs are also well equipped.
 

Placement Rating
The placements of this college have not been very promising over the past few years but there has been a significant growth as compared to 2023. Most visited companies are TCS, IBM, L&T, etc. As of now, many students are still struggling with placements.
 

Hostel Rating
JEC being a government college, the hostels are very affordable. There are enough hostels for the boys but there are only three hostels for girls. There are shared washrooms. The best thing about these hostels is their culture. All the festivals are celebrated here.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Unlike most colleges, JEC has a different infrastructure for each department. Each building reflects its background and it is designed differently. Its campus is spread over 255 acres. Its library has enough books but books are allocated according to the category hence reserved candidates get a privilege here. There is a canteen, which provides various fast food options. There is enough space for parking in each department and 2 major common parking areas. There are always 2-3 on duty security guards here.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life here is not very happening as Jabalpur as a city does not attract many artists and it being a government college, the culture here is decent and does not support western culture much. But events like ‘Aavahan’ i.e. a sports fest and then some technical fests are also organized. There are various Technical and non-technical clubs for literature, dance, coding, hackathons, singing etc. Every year 2-3 hackathons including SIH are conducted at college level. Some inter level college activities are also organized.
