Student’s Life at Jadavpur University Kolkata

Overall Rating
This University is pretty decent. The faculty members are good and the fee of this University is also affordable. This makes this University different from other Universities. This University is considered as one of the top Universities in India.
 

Academics Rating
I'm currently pursuing Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation and Electronics. My interest in semiconductor field made me choose this course. For admission, the students need to qualify WBJEE entrance exam and secure good rank.
The total fee of my course in Jadavpur University Kolkata is Rs. 10,500/-. The fee per semester is Rs. 2625/- The scholarship is provided by economically weak students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members of this University have done their education from top Institutions like IIT Kharagpur, Calcutta University, etc. The teaching methods include smart boards, projectors, etc. The teacher to student ratio is average. Every subject has at least 1 teacher and 1 associate teacher to teach approx 55 to 60 students in our department. The teachers are approachable. Teachers are also capable of sending students for research and internships.
 

Placement Rating
The placement cell of Jadavpur University is run by the final year students. A placement group is formed by selecting one student from each department. They also conducts placement drives for short listing the candidates on basis of CGPA and eligible candidates sit for online assessment which is followed by group discussion and then personal interview.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the University has its own hostel for economically weak students. The hostel mess is average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus size is average. The University has different buildings for each department. The campus has canteen and libraries with all kinds of books. A Football ground and Basketball court is present for sports enthusiasts. The C.A.B (Cricket Association of Bengal) ground also available in our Salt Lake campus. My favorite thing to watch the matches that takes place in the ground.
 

Campus Rating
The overall campus life at Jadavpur University is quite good. The vibe is nice and encouraging. The crowd is huge during the academic hours. I am less interested in clubs but there are various clubs in the University. They conduct two fests in a year such as Cultural (Sanskriti) and Tech (Srijan). These are highly recommended by me to enjoy the campus life with friends.

    Jadavpur University is tier 1 university and it is better than few IIT's and NIT's. Most important thing that you get here is JU tag. Alumni network is amazing and has very helpful Senior.     It has been less than a year that I joined this university. Till now, my experience is one of mixed feelings. The placement stats of Information Technology (my branch), very less fees compared to 99.9% of engineering colleges in India, language (Bengali), and good academic culture and to be honest familiarity with the city of Kolkata were the main reasons that compelled me to join this university out of the options that I had at that time.   • Jadavpur University: Ideal University to get Best Placement
     

    Overall Rating
    Our university is a tier 1 state public university with NIRF 2024 rank 12th in Engineering Category. Placement is very good (up to 100%) in some departments like Civil, Construction, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. Overall placement was 95% last year.     The overall experience of the university is superb. I'll describe each aspect in the later section but here let me give an outline of my experience. Jadavpur University offers the best ROI in India, the fees is just 2400 and getting an average placement of 10 LPA (20 LPA for CSE). There's no 75% attendance policy, 45-50% is enough.     Jadavpur University is one of the most prestigious institutions of India, particularly known for its Engineering courses. It gives a great university life experience and much boost to the carrier opportunities. It has the NIRF ranking of 12th in the year 2024.
