CU Chandigarh Average Package is Approximately 8 LPA

My overall experience at CU Chandigarh is vibrant in both personal and professional aspects. The reason I chose Chandigarh University was its affordability since it has scholarships, so the fee was comparatively lower than other Institutes. This University is quite reputed and well-known too. These are a few reasons of why I chose this University.

The course chosen by me is B.E in Computer Science Engineering. I chose this course since I was influenced by technology and AI. The admission process for Chandigarh University is smooth and easy. The exams like JEE, State Entrance Exams (KCET, KEAT, etc) are accepted at this University. There is also a University entrance exam which is known as CUCET. This is preferred by most of the students, as we get scholarship based on our score in this entrance exam. In first year, we had basic subjects like Maths, C++, Physics, Workshop, CAD, etc. which laid a foundation for further years. There are few low credit subjects like Social Internship, Universal Human Values, Life Skills and Mentoring, Aptitude, Academic Research Writing which are also very useful. The exams are well-structured and are conducted every month. They are from easy to moderate. The curriculum is relevant and comprehensive, which prepares students for further academic year and real world. There is relative grading system. The grades are given based on the highest marks of the class.

The detailed fee structure of my batch is: in first year, the tuition fee is approximately Rs. 2,72,400/- per year along with the Exam fee of Rs. 5000/- and Security Deposit of Rs. 2500/-. From 2nd year onwards, students are not supposed to pay the security deposit. As I have been awarded with 20% scholarship on my tuition fee for each semester based on my merit marks. It will be continued only if I maintain 7.5 CGPA. So the tuition fee that I have to pay is around Rs. 2,17,920/-. There are so many scholarships like Merit, CUCET Scholarship, National Entrance Exam Scholarship, etc. Additionally there is a charge of around Rs. 11,000/- for TPP (Training Placement Program) which is optional and charged in the 4th semester.

The faculty student ratio is 2:25, which is quite manageable. The faculties are approachable and they clear the doubts and give guidance. One of the best faculties I had is Prof. Deepak Sir, who teaches Maths. His way of teaching and approaching a problem is easier to understand. The teaching is mostly relied on PPTs and Notes. Most of the students have a friendly relationship with the faculty members.

The placement is the one of the strongest aspect of this University. From 6th semester onwards students become eligible for campus placements. From 4th semester, there is placement training program which makes students ready for interviews and tests in placements. There are prominent companies which visited our University like Microsoft, Google, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, etc. The highest package offered by a company is 54 LPA and average placement generally goes around 8 LPA. 90% of eligible students get placements. As I am still in 2nd year, I have not yet enrolled for the placements.

Yes, the University offers residential facility. Boys’ and girls’ hostels are separate. There are 4 seater rooms available for girls. For each student, there will be a cupboard, table, chair and bed in the hostel room. Moreover, there is a balcony for each room. There are lifts in every hostel (in Tagore hostel, the lift construction is going to start). The mess food quality is moderate. As a South Indian, it took me sometime to adapt to the food. The students are offered non-vegetarian meals twice a week. The students are served meals four times a day, i.e. breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. There are south Indian meals at dinner for South Indian students. The hostel fee is around Rs. 1,20,000/- per year. There are a few hostel rules. For girls, we should enter the hostel before 8.00 PM. Day-outs and night-outs are available during holidays or weekends. My personal opinion is, it was quite manageable.

There are so many blocks in our campus (from A1 - A3, B1 - B5, C1 - C3, D1 - D6). The campus infrastructure is top level. The lecture halls are equipped with Projectors and ACs. The lab classes are equipped with requirements like computers, projectors, etc. There are nearly 8 to 10 libraries in our campus. There are numerous books, journals, theses available at our library. Students have the access to library from 9.30 AM to 8.00 PM. There are few grounds in our campus too.

My overall campus life is at CU Chandigarh has been very amazing. There are so many clubs like IEEE CUSB, CUEC, etc. which provides various opportunities to the students. I am a member of CUEC. There are so many sports facilities offered on campus. There are facilities for various sports and training to students is provided for their preferred sports. Many sports athletes from national team are from this University. One of the best pacer of Indian Cricket Team, Arshdeep Singh who contributed in winning T20 World Cup is from our University. There is Freshers Day, Tech Invent, CU Fest, and various other activities.
