GGU Bilaspur: Academics, Activities & More

Overall Rating
The infrastructure and the education system are quite impressive at GGU Bilaspur. Not only the education but the extracurricular activities are also great, giving opportunities to students to showcase their talent in their respective fields like dance, singing, acting, and more. The lab here is well-maintained and proper availability of equipments is there. Departmental sports competitions and inter-University sports competitions also take place. Various seminars are also organised at the University. The University has more than 25 departments.
 

Academics Rating
Timely schedule of exams and classes are there. To provide practical exposure to students, theoretical classes are accompanied with lab classes. Admission process is quite easy. Admission takes place through CUET exam. After the results are released for the exam, counselling process takes place in which the University is allotted on merit of students. My course is M.Sc in Biotechnology. It's a semester-based course.
The fee structure based on a semester system. The fee for my course ranged from Rs. 2880/- to Rs. 4800/- per semester. Scholarships were provided to the students who were below the poverty line of around Rs. 40,000/- to Rs. 50,000/-.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here is very helpful and caring. They are friendly and we can discuss with them topics related to studies, laboratory process, and more. The faculty here is highly educated and focused and focuses on the overall development of students. There is special staff for the lab that assists the students with the experiments students conduct. There are proper lectures integrated with technology for better understanding of students. For dissertation, the students are allotted separate faculty for guidance and support.
 

Placement Rating
There were not much placements at our time. In my opinion, for my course, there are comparatively less placements as compared to completely technical courses like B.Tech.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostel at GGU Bilaspur is great by the way. There are mess facilities, playing area, area for cultural activities, and more facilities in the hostel premises. The mess serves meals 4 times a day including Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dinner. The timing of the hostel was from 7 AM to 7 PM for girls’ hostel and for boys, it was 7 AM to 10 PM. Both the hostels were separate.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The University has developed a lot in the recent years. There have been extended departments now. There are sports facilities, meditation centre, on-campus hostels, medical facilities, auditoriums, etc. The favorite hangout spot for most of the students was the Kali Mandir which offered a river side view. There were spacious smart classrooms. There were departmental labs too. All of them were well-equipped and well-maintained.
 

Campus Rating
The overall campus life was amazing as beside education, focus was also given to other activities. There were fests and multiple extracurricular activities for students. The University’s crowd is amazing. Be it fests or other activities, students enjoy to their fullest. Celebrations of various festivals took place and there were many inter and intra-University sport and cultural competitions which made the campus life even more vibrant. There were also magazines for the publication of achievements of students and the University.

    I was preparing for NEET but unfortunately couldn't make it. I am from a biology background and am always interested in biology. I’m from Raipur, Chhattisgarh and Guru Ghasidas Visvidyalaya is the only Central University of Chhattisgarh.   • GGU Bilaspur Placement Cell: How Effective it is

    My overall experience at this university is good quite. The environment is soothing and calm which provides a better way for studies. I have chosen this university as all the basics facilities which are required to be in a university are available here. Amenities like Playground, Central Library, Cafeteria and a lot more.     The thought initially that made me choose the institution when I enrolled for my undergraduate in 2020 was the faculty and the review of my seniors from school. I'm currently pursuing Masters and I'm in second year. My experience has been truly good. With minimum fee, you get good support from everywhere.
