When I think about my time at the Institute, the first thing that comes to my mind is how much it has shaped me, not just academically but also personally. Before I joined, I heard a lot about the Institute, be it about its huge campus, good placements, and lively student life. After spending years here, I can say that most of those things turned out to be true. But like any other Institute, this Institute can also improve in a few areas. One of the most striking things about Institute is the campus itself. It feels like a self-sufficient world. I remember being amazed during my first week at how organized and clean the environment was. For someone coming from another city, it was relieved to know that safety and facilities were well taken care of. Being a student here, I got exposure to good lab facilities, updated software and professors who were approachable.

I pursued B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at KIIT Bhubaneswar. My motive for enrolling in this course was my keen interest in Coding, Software Development, and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics. The eligibility criteria for admission included at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12th Grade, along with qualifying the KIITEE entrance exam. The admission process was smooth, starting with the online application, appearing for KIITEE, and then attending the counselling session where seats are allocated based on rank. The academic structure was well-organised. We had two main exams per semester, i.e., mid-semester and end-semester along with regular internal assessments, lab evaluations and project submissions. This frequency ensured that students stayed consistent in their learning rather than relying on last-minute preparation. What I appreciated the most was emphasis on practical exposure. The course includes hands-on labs, mini-projects, internships, and industry sessions.

The fees for my program were charged semester-wise. On an average, the tuition fee was from around Rs. 1,75,000/- to Rs. 2,00,000/- per semester. The fee charged highly depends on the year of admission. In the first semester, there was also an admission and registration charge of about Rs. 75,000/- to Rs. 1,00,000/-. Apart from tuition, students need to pay hostel and mess fees separately, which usually ranges between Rs. 60,000/- to Rs. 70,000/- per semester, depending on the room type. The Institute also provides scholarships and financial aids to meritorious students, economically weaker students, and achievers in sports and academics. For example, students securing top ranks in KIITEE are eligible for fee waivers that can go up to 100% tuition fee exemption.

The faculty at the Institute is quite diverse, with many professors holding Ph.D degrees from reputed Institutions in India and abroad. In my course, I was taught by faculty members who specialised in fields like Data Science, Cloud Computing and Machine Learning. Their teaching methods were not just limited to textbooks. They often used Power Point Presentations, whiteboards, coding sessions and group discussions to explain concepts. This variety made the learning process engaging. One thing I personally like is their problem-solving ability and approachability. If we faced difficulties with assignments or concepts, faculty members were open to discussions after class and even during office hours. Some professors even went out of their way to help us with projects, research, and even placements, while a few followed the textbook a little too rigidly.

The infrastructure of the Institute is one of its biggest strengths and something that immediately stands out to any new student. The campus is spread across acres of land in Bhubaneswar and is well-planned, with separate academic blocks for different schools like Engineering, Law, Management, and Medical Sciences. Each academic block is modern in design, fully air-conditioned and equipped with digital classrooms. Most classrooms have seating capacity of 60 to 100 students with AV aids like projectors, smart boards and sound systems that make learning more interactive. The central library is huge with thousands of reference books, journals, e-resources and many digital facilities. Everything a student might need is there including libraries, food courts, sports complexes, and even a hospital is available within the campus.

Campus life at KIIT Bhubaneswar is vibrant, diverse and full of opportunities. With students coming from all across India and even abroad, the Institute’s crowd is dynamic and friendly. The environment is welcoming and it's easy to find like-minded people who share similar interests. There are numerous clubs and societies ranging from Technical clubs for activities like Coding & Robotics to Cultural clubs for activities like Dance, Music, Drama, Photography, Social Service, and more. I personally participated in some of the technical clubs which gave me a chance to collaborate on projects and meet passionate peers.
