My Academic Experience in IIT Jodhpur

Overall Rating
I am in my 2nd year right now and honestly I am having a lot of fun here. To be honest, the campus is beautiful. The societies keep us busy throughout the year and you will not get bored. I am from Alwar and I chose this Institute because it is close to my hometown. I think it is rich in culture and the privacy of a single room which I have is what you will not find in other Institutes.
 

Academics Rating
I am from Civil Engineering branch. I chose this course because I got around 12,000 rank in JEE Advanced. For admission, the students have to qualify the entrance exam and score good rank in it. The exams are not that hectic as we have one major and one minor exam in each semester. I would not say all the courses are industry relevant but the course like Machine Learning and DSA are taught to all the students’ irrespective of the course that they have opted.
My semester fee in IIT Jodhpur is around Rs. 1,00,00/-. The Institute also provides scholarships and financial aid to the students.
 

Faculty Rating
Honestly I don't have such good connections with faculty members. So I will tell you about my classroom experience. All the faculty members are well qualified and have good experience in teaching. They mainly us PPTs as a teaching method but it varies from professor to professor. As the teachers are highly qualifies their problem solving abilities are good too. The teacher to students' ratio is around 1:40 and I think it's pretty good. I don't have such bonding with professors but there is one professor who told me to start doing gym with him and now he is my gym trainer.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, the Institute has placement cell. The cell is doing its work nicely. Various big tech companies visit the campus because of the Institute’s good reputation. I am still in 2nd year so I don’t have much experience about it.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the Institute provides residential facilities to the students. The hostels are just decent. I am staying in a single AC so I don't have much problem. The mess fee is around Rs. 19,000/-. The girls and the boys mess are common. The hostel rules are not at all strict; the students can go out and come inside whenever they want.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus of IIT Jodhpur is designed like an old Rajasthani castle in about 842 acres of land. The campus has 2 big lecture hall and several classrooms. We have our own department with several other facilities. The Institute has library, seminar hall, academic building, labs, good sports facilities, etc. The campus has 2 canteens which are quite expensive and a PHC hospital. My favorite thing in this campus is the knowledge tree which looks very beautiful at night and it is the centre of attraction.
 

Campus Rating
My campus life till now is good. I don’t want to go to my home anymore. The crowd is so friendly, you can sit with any group and nobody will say anything. All the societies are very active and currently, I am the Joint Secretary of a society called Dramebaaz. Everyday there is something going on and it is hard to keep a track of everything. The Institute organises various fests throughout the year but my favorite is 'Spandan'.

    My overall experience with IIT, Jodhpur is pretty good. Since this is an IIT it is well expected why I have chosen it. Although the institute is in Jodhpur that has scarcity of water but our institute has good flora and fauna. Teachers here are also well qualified and more understanding and supporting.     The overall experience of Indian Institute of Technology is very good. The factors which made me choose this Institute were the infrastructure, the academics and it is about 5 hrs away from my home. I think among all IITS, IIT jodhpur is the only Institute which provides single occupancy room to all the students and each room has AC installed in it.     This is the institute I was getting at my JEE rank. Honestly I want to get the higher branch than Chemical Engineering but my rank was not good enough. Our institute focuses on advanced research in areas like AI, Robotics, and Sustainable Technologies. Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur also offers bus facility if we want to purchase something from the city we can go in the buses.
