St. Xavier's University Kolkata has Disabled Friendly Campus

The course I chose in St. Xavier's University is very technical and practical. The professors are extremely helpful and friendly. The classes are very entertaining and fun. We don’t get bore during the classes. My minor is Film Studies and that is why we get to watch and discuss about many landmark films in the class. This University is one of the best Universitys in term of academics, extracurricular activities, etc. The University believes in the holistic development of the students. It has disabled friendly campus.

I chose B.A (Hons.) in Mass Communication. For admission, the students have to qualify entrance exam. For students who want to enroll in other course, the eligibility criteria is their marks class 12th boards. The University conducts 2 exams per semester. The mid-semester exams are of 30 marks and the end-semester exams are of 70 marks. As mentioned before the course is based on more practical work rather than theories. The University also provide camera to the students so that they can gain practical exposure.

The students can pay the fee in installments. I paid Rs. 66,800/- in the first installment and in the second installment, I paid Rs. 34,500/-. In the second semester, we have to pay Rs. 35,800/- in the first installment and in the second installment we have to pay Rs. 33,300/-.

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Mrs. Sharmishtha Jha has good educational background. She has done Masters, Ph.D, and Diploma courses as well. She has over 13 years of experience in teaching. She has a prolific career in Film Production and Editing. She's humorous, friendly, and eager to help all the students. She explains each and every topic with great care and always ensures that each student has understood the topic before moving to the next one. Utsav Chatterjee has done Masters and he is very practical and uses real life examples to help the students so that they can understand the topic easily. Overall, all the professors of St. Xavier's University are extremely helpful.

There are around 70 students in my departments and our department is fully air conditioned. The classrooms are huge and large windows are there which helps in the ventilation. The sound system, projectors, and various other things are there in the classroom. The washrooms of this University are clean and well maintained. The campus has canteen, great sports facilities, etc. The University also has many labs, sound rooms, editing rooms, etc. My favorite thing here is the availability of cold water 24 hours.

The University has various societies such as Theatre, Dance, Music, Debate, Fine Arts, etc. The University makes sure that the students get fits into the societies very well. All members of the societies are very approachable and helpful. The campus crowd is nice and friendly. You will find students jamming, talking, and having fun. This University is great place for making good friends and enjoying good campus life while ensuring the academic growth as well.
