Overall Rating
My experience at this Institute is good till now. The Institute has got 35th rank in the NIRF rank 2025. I chose this Institute because it has strong alumni network. It will help you in your personality development. Academics are good. The hostel facilities that this Institute offers are amazing. This Institute was previously known as Indian School of Mines.
 

Academics Rating
I chose B.Tech in this Institute. The eligibility criteria are that the students must have passed their class 12th boards with good marks. For admission, the students have to qualify JEE Main exam and score good rank in it. The exams are conducted frequently and the academics are also easy.
The fee of my course in IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is divided into two parts. First are the tuition fee and the second includes all the other charges. The tuition fee of my course is around Rs. 1,00,000/-.
 

Faculty Rating
Most of the faculty has done Ph.D in their respective field. They have good knowledgeable about the subjects that they are teaching. The teachers belong from different states. It is very easy to interact with the teachers. The Institute also assigns mentors to each and every student. Overall, the teachers solve all the doubts of the students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus has decent infrastructure. There are several academical blocks and each block is designed uniquely. The campus is spread over 393 acres of land. It is surrounded by lush greenery. The campus has one of the biggest libraries. The Institute also provide sports facilities for games like Cricket, Basketball, etc. Apart from this, various other facilities are also available for the students.
 

Campus Rating
My campus life at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is good so far. There are around more than 10,000 students studying in this Institute. There are various clubs present at the students. I have also joined the clubs. The Institute organise various extracurricular activities for the students. It conducts many fests such as 'Concetto', 'Srijan', 'Khanan', 'Parakram', 'Basanth', 'Udbhav', 'Kryptoes', 'Pragna', etc. 'Srijan' is the biggest fest conducted in this Institute.

    I have experienced a good atmosphere at this university, which helps me to have self-confidence. I opted for this institute as it is in the middle of the town unlike other institutions, which were quite in the outskirts of cities. It also has great facilities like any other IIT and so helps in boosting one's career. It is quite famous and old. It was established in 1926 and so soon, it is going to have a century....     Our institute is one of the oldest institutes with an NIRF rank of 15th in engineering category. It recently was labeled as IIT. The existing institute campus area is about 218 acres consisting of 15 hostels occupied by students enrolled in various courses (Ph.D, B.Tech, M. Tech, etc). Also, there is a Student Activity Centre (SAC) which allows students interested in sports / acting / singing / dancing / swimming to engage themselves in their hobbies.   • Reasons to Choose ECE at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

    For me, I have just completed my first semester here and starting to fall in love with my institute. The rain and the red color of ISM combine to probably give the best view. Not very big campus but still it seems largest when you are running late for the labs and classes. RD, Mehzban, Dominos, Barista are there to address the food craving monster inside you.     First of all it should be remembered that it's ISM before IIT. Overall experience is better. As a South Indian I felt difficult to connect with Hindi language and also to the food as most of our diet is filled with potato. The experience about studies is good.
