National Institute of Technology M.Sc Review By Deenanath Yadav

My experience in the NIT Calicut was amazing as I did study a lot for getting admission in the institute and all the hard work that I put in did worth studying in the National Institute of Technology which has very good rank in all over India among other good institutes. My first year in the college was mostly online and since my course require more practical stuff so it was really depressing for me to do classes from home and I also got problem in some subjects and the exam for the first year were offline and that was very difficult part of the study because we study all the year in online mode and the exams were in offline mode. Second year of my post graduation was in college and I had enjoyed that year with study and after my placement remaining two months in the college was amazing and I explored all the areas of the college. I choose NIT because it was much better college than the other colleges that I was getting after the counseling that I was getting.

I took admission in the Master of Science after completing my post graduation from a very good university but it was not near to the NIT Calicut. In my second year of graduation I started preparing for the IIT JAM exam through the online platform and I study all the subjects in depth and then I fill the form on JAM portal after the test they announce the result and I started my counselling process. There are two years in the course and it is immensely difficult to qualify the exam for each year. My motivation to choose this program was come from my graduation background because I did the graduation in the relevant field. In my class there were sixty students and we also divided in the four groups for the lab works and we had lot of pressure to complete all the works related to the course and sometimes it was very depressing for me.

All the teachers in the NIT are experts in their field literally they are expert and their meter of knowledge touches the sky since they are really good in their own field and their knowledge is the result of the work they did in their career and also the hard work they put in to publish many paper in the research work which they do. Many of my teachers supported me to think about new idea such that I can file my own patent and the research culture in the institute is very good and each and every faculty member support and encourage us to do something out of the box so we can discover our real talent and also so we can get the habit of doing practical. Background and the educational qualifications of the all teachers was PhD and most of them had also done their post doctorate. May be some teacher were not good in teaching but their knowledge was also huge and I respect them a lot.

Of course there is a placement cell in the college which is very dedicated towards the welfare of the students because they bring really good companies to the institute. Since most of the companies that visit the campus are from IT field but some companies also visit for our branch and the companies like Mankind Pharma and Dr. Reddy's visit the campus on the regular basis and the best one is the Dr Reddy's because I got placed in this with good package. Only fifty percent students in my batch got placed since many students still wants to study and they plan to purse PhD to become the drug scientist. Highest package of my college was 42 LPA which was offered by the Microsoft for the software engineer profile whereas the minimum package goes like 4 to 5 Lakh per annum. Overall placement in the institute is good and if really looking for the placement gets the placement in the college.

I very much like the college hostel because of the facilities they provide at very little price. Hostel allotment process start at the time of admission process and the hostel fee structure is also very flexible because they charge only Rs. 9000 per year for the room which is very less and we get two fans and lights in a rooms with table and bed with good cleaning service and we get a washroom with good facilities and also we also got free Wi-Fi in the hostel which help in the time of exam for the preparation for the students. There are some PG outside the campus but students are not allowed to live outside the campus so we had to live in the campus hostel which is fine and in the hostel mess we got a different mess for the north Indian food and also there is separate mess for the Veg and Non Veg and both type of food items are prepared in the mess. There are many recreational activities that happen in the college hostel.

There are many great facilities in the college and this institute is spread in the area of more than three hundred acres and sometimes it feel like a city in itself. Some of the facilities that are present in the institute are like there is huge library in the college which has more than 3 floors and consist of more than two lakh book with well organized infrastructure. Separate hostels for the male and female students are available with all the necessary facilities and all the students that are living there. All type of sports equipment are present in the institute and also the transportation facilities are also present in the campus and the medical clinic is also present in the campus for the monitoring of the health of the students. Good labs, Cafeteria, Gym, and huge auditorium are the some highlights of the beautiful campus and there are lot of green space in the NIT Calicut.

Taking about my experience and the life in the NIT I would say that it was full of learning and it gave a direction to my career and I got to learn many things in the institute and there are many things that I stop doing in my college life such that I can improve myself and can become better person each day. Life in the NIT is full of fun and learning and there is something that happen always in the campus. Each day you see many different events that happen in the college which are being organized by the college students without any support from the management. Two main fests happen in the institute and student outside the college also participates in the event. RAGAM is the main cultural fest of the college which takes place in March and the technical fest happen in the month November. I would like to say that life in the NIT Calicut id good and it provide you lot of good experience.
