NMIMS Mumbai B.Sc Applied Statistics & Analytics Admission via NMIMS-MST Exam

The experience has overall been an enriching and quite exciting one, with ample opportunities provided by the Institute. I chose the Institute for its reputation, connections and placement record. NMIMS Mumbai is unique because of its unique corporate type culture, and it really focuses on real-world applicability and not just theoretical learning. The continuous evaluation system, industry-relevant curriculum and emphasis on presentations and projects truly have prepared me for real challenges.

I chose B.Sc in Applied Statistics and Analytics, because I wanted a course that combines mathematical problems with real-world applications in Data Analytics and decision making. Entry requirements include meeting the academic requirements of mathematics as a subject in class 12, followed by the NMIMS-MST entrance exam. The admission process was well structured and transparent. Exams are quite frequent (every month), which might include various assessment types like presentations, assignments and class tests. There is a term-end examination at the end of every semester. Overall, the course has prepared me for a career in Quant Finance, Algorithmic Trading, Data Science and Analyst by building both technical skills and by providing communication confidence.

The fee for my course is quite reasonable that is Rs. 1,50,000/- in the first year, followed by Rs. 1,40,000/- for the next two years. No such scholarship program is running as of now. The Institute follows no quota system. So everyone has to give the entrance exams for this course.

The faculty is quite highly qualified, with backgrounds in Mathematics and Statistics. Almost everyone holds a Ph.D. degree and brings relevant industry experience, which is actually very beneficial for a student. Their teaching methods include PPTs, whiteboard explanations, coding demonstrations, case studies and group discussions. Faculty are strong problem-solvers and promote logical thinking and application-based learning. The teacher-student ratio is comfortable, ensuring individual attention when needed. My experience with the Institute has been positive.

Yes, the Institute offers residential facilities but I don’t know much about it.

There are 3 academic blocks which are located within a radius of 1km, as NMIMS Mumbai provides many courses. The building is divided into three, with most of the course being in the Mukesh Patel Building. The remaining are in the main building (GLASS) or in the Mithibai Building. The main building mostly caters to the MBA students whereas the remaining 2 buildings have Bachelor's courses running on. There are ample number of canteens which are mostly veg (might serve eggs). The canteens are quite affordable and clean. If you are a Jain or Brahmin, they have food options available for you as well.

The campus life here is average as all the 3 buildings are located at a distance from each other, which is separated by the main road, so to socialise and network, you might need to work a little extra hard and get out of your comfort zone. Mostly, people here are from outside Mumbai, so you may just find your group in your PG or class. You may have to pay for turf and courts by the hour if you want to play or anything.
