GNLU Silvassa is a State Level University

My experience at GNLU Silvassa which is a State level University, has been really special mainly because I am a part of the first batch. I chose this Institution because it is an extended campus of GNLU Gandhinagar, a well-known upper tier Law University and getting a chance to study under the same legacy felt like a dream opportunity. Being a new campus, everything here is built from scratch which gives us the freedom to grow with the University and shape its culture.

I chose B.A.LL.B which is of 5 years. I always wanted to study Law from the start. To get admission here you have to give CLAT exam and every NLU has a different cut-off. While filling the exam form, you can choose your preferred University and after the result, the allotment list decides where you get it. Anyone who has passed 12th from any stream can apply. And the academics here are good and it is not very hard it just needs regular study. The way we are taught really helps us understand real life legal situation and builds our skills for the future.

My course fee was around Rs. 2,58,000/- per year including tuition, hostel and mess which is reasonable for the facilities provided.

The best thing about Gujarat National Law University, Silvassa is the faculty. The entire faculty is very nice, helpful and always ready to guide us. They teach using PPTs, discussions and interactive classes so it becomes easy to understand. The bond between students and faculty is very good here even after classes they are always ready to support us. Overall, the faculty creates a very positive and encouraging environment.

I am from the first batch and currently in my third year, so I don’t have much idea about Placement yet. The Placement process has not started for our batch so it would be too early to comment on it.

One of the best things is definitely the hostel. Staying in hostel is mandatory and honestly the facilities are really good. The boys’ hostel is like 1BHK flat style where four students share one unit. We also have gym, a ground to play and a reading room. The girls’ and boys’ hostels are separate but the mess is common and the food is genuinely tasty. The rooms are clean and daily cleaning is done properly. From my personal experience, this hostel is one of the best and most comfortable places to stay.

The infrastructure of Gujarat National Law University, Silvassa is quite impressive even though we are currently on a temporary campus until the main campus is completed. The hostel is around 2 KMs away and the University provides bus to pick and drop us which is very convenient. The campus has a unique and modern look; the classrooms are spacious and comfortable. We have a well maintained library, a beautiful designed Moot Court room, a seminar hall, and conference hall that are perfect for academic activities. The campus also has a lift, clean washrooms and a nice lawn area. Overall, the environment is clean, green, and very student friendly.

My campus life has been really amazing so far. The crowd here is very interesting with students coming from different parts of India, so the environment feels diverse and friendly. Everyone lives together like one group and there is always so much happening on Campus. There are many clubs and committees that keep organising different activities, event and competitions so evenings are never boring. During festivals, the campus becomes even more lively with big celebrations that everyone enjoys together. I have made great friends here and found a very positive crowd. I truly enjoy being part of this campus.
