My Experience at Hindu College: A Prestigious DU College

Overall Rating
Hindu College has been consistently ranked NIRF 1 for two years now. It offers a multitude of courses across various domains of Science, Commerce, and Humanities. The College offers a highly professional and socially progressive environment for students. Due to a vast variety of courses, students of different understandings and knowledge can interact. The College also has a parliament of its own, which has its own budget, elections and policies.
 

Academics Rating
I am pursuing Economics Honors. It is very well known particularly for its Humanities courses like Political Science, Sociology, Economics, and more. Admission to these courses is done via CUET exam and the cut-off to these courses is generally high due to a strong demand among students. The exams are held semester-wise following the standard DU procedure. The standardized DU syllabus is followed here across all the courses however teachers conduct tests and assignments in their own ways.
The fees is paid year-wise and for economics honors the fees has stood in range of Rs. 25,000/-to Rs. 30,000/-. Further assistances like discounts & concessions might be available for students of weaker economic background.
 

Faculty Rating
The teachers here are extremely well versed in their subjects, though their teaching methods are usually traditional with old School style. They are extremely professional in their conduct allowing no personal bias to take place during tests or internals. They are also extremely supportive for students who want to study the subjects in depth allowing them to assist them in their research. Each faculty member has their own way of conducting tests and assignments and they remain strict about it however, they are also accommodating to students' needs.
 

Placement Rating
The Placement Cell at Hindu College is one of the best. It has an extremely strong alumni network and connections with multi-national companies.
 

Hostel Rating
Though I am not a hosteler, I have very close friends who live at the hostel. College's Girl’s Hostel has air conditioned rooms, a common room, and elevator, a clean pantry and a medical room. There is a time constraint of 10 PM. Newly built boy’s hostel is expected to become operational this year.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is spread in 24 acres with an indoor gym, a basketball ground, a cricket net, and a volleyball ground. It has two academic blocks. The new academic block has projectors and elevator; however, the rooms are non-AC making summer classes extremely uncomfortable for students. The College has extremely well built library with several floors. It also i well equipped with a large number of books, AC, and computers. There is also 900-seater auditorium.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at College is good. College as over 50 societies including cultural, political, and professional societies, each with an active student body managing it. I am part of Masque and E-cell, the previous one being a theatre society and the other being a corporate society. There several society organised events and speaker sessions held in College. The parliament at College also organises MECCA, which is the annual fest of College. I had a wonderful experience at the campus.

    This year I started studying at Hindu College as a B.Sc Statistics student and my experience till now has been definitely satisfying. The second I heard I got in this college, I was ecstatic. Though the starting days were all jittery and full of social awkwardness, but the diversity and the inclusivity this institute will make you feel like a part of it pretty soon.     Hindu College is NIRF 1 for a reason. The college is worth its hype. The Political Science department of the college is comparatively one of the best in India and I would suggest the same to others. The crowd at the College is very dynamic and full of diversity.
