GCE Ratnagiri is Affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University Lonere

I got admission in this College through MHT CET examination in the year 2022. Loknete Shamrao Peje Government College of Engineering Ratnagiri or Government College of Engineering Ratnagiri was established in the year 2021. This College grants the Bachelor's degree in Technology (B.Tech) to the students. I chose to be in this College, as it was a Government-Aid College, I gave this College the first preferences among the Government Colleges and due to its low cutoff, and I got the seat in here. There is nothing so far different in this College as such, as it is still working on improving its working system and the overall administration of the College. Still there are things, which are getting upgraded with the increasing years. This College is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (DBATU). Apart from the branch of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS), this College consists of four more branches/courses that are - Electrical Engineering, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering & Food Technology and Management (FTM).

The course that I chose in this College was of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS). In addition, due to introductions of new systems and drastic change in the tech sector, I got motivated to get a degree under this related domain. There is no specific eligibility criteria for this, because the admission in this College is done on the basis of either MHT-CET /JEE Main score or via Diploma score. I was a regular student who took admission in this College through the MHT CET examination. For the admission process, the student might be having the set of documents such as 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet or Diploma marksheet, Leaving Certificate (original copy), entrance exam scorecard, caste certificate if any, Aadhaar card, birth certificate/domicile, and other. All these documents shall get submitted in the College office and then the admission process is done. Overall there are 8 semesters and per semester contains a mid - semester examination and an end semester examination. Overall, in a year, 2-end semester and 2 mid semester exams are conducted for 2 sems. Each semester lasts for around 5 months maximum. The academic challenges have taught the most important thing in my life that is obviously going to help me in my professional career too, and that factor is of handling the pressure and the deadline of the submission, which are held in the College for projects and assignments. Every student can relate with this statement of mine when I mention about submissions and preparations in the College. It really becomes very much difficult for the students to handle all the things at one go. It includes the preparation of the projects, completion of the assignments and also the nervousness of answering while viva. Managing all the things at one go and also within a short period of time is the main challenge that every engineering student faces. So all this hustle has taught me to deal with the upcoming pressure, managing the tasks within a shorter span of time and also to learn new things or techniques out of that. This proves to be beneficial for me not just with respect to my domain but I can also apply this moral in ay stage of my life whenever I feel helpless. Therefore, this is the lesson that I got while managing all my academic pressures.

The fee for my chosen course was year wise. I got admitted via the category, so my fees according to per year ranged from Rs. 23,500/- to Rs. 24,700/-. There are scholarships for the female students.

The faculty of my College is overall good. Most of the faculty in this College is assistant professors and some are the permanent faculties of our College. Their teaching pattern is good. Their approach of teaching is the manual way only, that is the traditional one, under some instances smart boards are used for PPTs and explanations. For some practical concepts, some cs are used. The teacher student ratio is 1:70. My overall experience is average. When it comes to bonding me, it is not very great but yeah when it comes to helping. The faculties are cooperative and helpful in that matter. They tend to understand the situation of the students whenever they are in trouble and also try to help them accordingly.

The Placement Cell is not fully in action, it is under progress. Officially, the placement cell is not in action in our College. As my College does not contain any placement cell, I have no such experience of any interviews for any hiring companies as such. Currently I am not placed by my College. The students have to search for off campus hiring if they want to get placed. The College currently is not helping with any of the placements to the students.

There is no hostel facility for the students of our College. The hostel facility is also under process and it is not ready yet. The students have to manage by searching for nearby external hostels or pgs and also for the mess likewise.

Overall infrastructure is good. The new building of the College was built recently with a new design and also seating areas for the students. More number of spacious classrooms is made with a digital explainer board in each one. In addition, many of the lab areas are made for better classes and practical knowledge. Library system is slowly getting improved, it contains a limited amount of books, but with time, that problem is also getting solved. Spaces are also allotted in libraries to study with the books. Overall keeping the building structure in mind, ample amount of space is there to accumulate students in large numbers and also to organise a function or a ceremony for the students and the faculty. Medical facility has been arranged by the College.

I did not have any formal campus experience as I mentioned earlier, I used to live in a pg along with my College friends. However, I can conclude one thing that if you are with a better group of friends, then it becomes easier for the students to experience the College life. When I was newcomer in my College the crowd was explicitly too low and it had very low recognition, but now with increasing years, the demand is getting higher of this College for the students to get admitted. If I talk about the present crowd, it is actually promising the numbers of the intake the College has for each branch. There is no such diverse amount of clubs but yeah, students find joy in exploring other things or places and witnessing some different events that ought to happen in the city. My overall campus experience will not sound like a typical experience but as I was fortunate enough to get some good and cooperative friends, so it became easier for me to survive there.
