A Truthful Perception of UPES Dehradun

Overall Rating
I was genuinely surprised when I came here as I chose this Institution as my last resort. The campus was great. The faculty here are very helpful and they will always guide you. It authentically depends upon the person that they get the most from the faculty. This institute courses and syllabus are directly focused on industry.
 

Academics Rating
I took admission in B.Tech (CSE). Entry requirements include scoring at least 45% marks in 10th and 12th Grades. There would be 2 to 3 tests for internals followed by mid semester and end semester exams. The course makes you industry ready.
At the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun, total fees with hostel will cost you around Rs. 28,00,000/- to Rs. 30,00,000/-. Eligible students can get scholarships as well.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members here are highly educated. Many of them are from IITs and NITS and also completed their Masters’. Some of read and explain from PPTs. They also indulge in group discussions and are very easy to approach. Bonding with faculty depends upon particular student and faculty too. Some faculty are very strict though.
 

Placement Rating
The Placement Cell helps every student, even the ones who have already graduated. The cell generally divides students into 3 groups after taking an exam i.e., Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Alpha students gets placed in top companies with good to highest package. Beta students get average to good package and gamma students generally need to prove their own to skill to get a placement. Highest package as of now is 52 LPA offered by Cred.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the University offers residential facilities for male and female students, separately. Also, 2 and 3 seater rooms are present in AC and Non-AC options. Triple sharing room costs around Rs. 1,83,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- as a security deposit. The mess food is genuinely good. They are a little bit strict about the outing as you need permission from authorities.
 

Infrastructure Rating
UPES Dehradun got numerous classrooms and a great infrastructure. I am a part of Bidholi which is almost 17 KMs away from Dehradun city. The seating capacity of a classroom is around 70 students. It also have a top notch library for studying and lending books. Their labs are also good. They also have a great sports infrastructure and also train serious athletes. They got good food court with outlets like Dominos’.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life will be good for the newcomers. They host multiple events for the freshers this time. The University might seem bit crowdy. There are many clubs also in which you can join. Main fest known as ‘Urja’ is held on a grand level and major sports fest is known as ‘OJAS’.

The life here is not only just limited to the classroom but it this University will also provide hands on experience by conducting various competitions.     Overall the college is better than most private Universities in Uttrakhand. The faculty is good at teaching. UPES provides internship opportunities which are also to be taken in consideration when applying here. I chose UPES because of their placements and the location of college.     In UPES, the teachers are very helpful and the campus ambience is very serene calm and beautiful. It is free from the city rush. It UPES regularly conducts fests and workshops for the students.
