MIT is affiliated to MAHE University. It is one of the top engineering colleges of Karnataka. Bachelor's as well as master's programs are offered here. There are around 19 streams when it comes to B.Tech & 27 streams when it comes to M.Tech. There is student exchange programme for both UG and PG students where you can study 2 years in Manipal and rest in abroad colleges which are tie up with the institute. It has been ranked 39th by NIRF.

When it comes to admission process it is very simple. Once you apply through website, MET (Manipal Entrance Test) will be held, depending on your score you will get the branch. For counseling you may need to come to Manipal for finalising your seat. College management is very helpful when it comes to any doubts regarding admission, hostel issues, academic and during college fests. They will notify each and everything prior so that there will be no ambiguity to the students. Even the exam hall that you are supposed to go will be sent to your phone through mail or message. This will avoid students searching for exam hall during exams.

The course that I opted for my bachelors here was Industrial & Production and for my masters was in Automobile Engineering. The eligibility was pretty simple, 50% aggregate in the previous exams and the MET score. For my bachelors MET, there was mathematics, English and science paper for total 200 marks. For masters MET it consisted of English and core mechanical papers for 200 marks. The cut off and the seat will depend on the number of students and their marks.

The main reason to join this course because there were certain subjects which I liked most such as quality, project management and automotive related subjects. The courses are many so wisely chose it according to your interests because I have seen some people withdrawing the course after admission. The courses are beyond to my expectations. The subjects are updated and it is according to industry requirements. All are taught from the basics. It is unto you to build up interest on particular subject and do research on it and publish a paper for future. The teachers are very friendly and will clear your doubts instantly. The courses are definitely helpful to get a job. All you need to do is update yourself with the newer technologies.

During my bachelors, there were around 70 faculties and in my masters around 25 -30 faculties. There are more than 600+ faculties including all branches. Most of them either have a PhD or pursuing it. All the faculties are involved in research projects and encourage students to join them as well. Some faculties have many years of experience and some are new. But the teachers are well versed in the subject are taught to students in easy manner. Notes and other material are given to the students, also encourages using the text books of different author to maximum level.

The faculties are available whenever the students need them. One interesting fact is they focus more on mental health of students and will be in contact with the students personally. Faculties are also made to keep touch with students' scores so that they maintain certain level and improve them consistently.

There is a separate department for placement in our college. The students don't get any training for aptitude, group discussions and HR interview from the college. But seniors will always help you to crack these. There are alumni pages where seniors share their experiences and other things. Microsoft, Philips, Oracle, Tata Motors, TCS, Cognizant, Atkins aerospace, Accenture, Honeywell, Google, Samsung R&D, IBM, Cisco, Intel, Hero motor corp, Delloite and KPMG are some of them which will come.

Highest package offered was by Microsoft to three students from our batch. Average package was around Rs. 5-6 LPA. Around 60% students received placements and some of them are pursuing their masters and some didn't receive due to their personal reasons such as backlogs etc. Placement rates are high when it comes to software streams and bit low in mechanical and automotive streams. Even if you are from mechanical and automotive branch, sometimes you can get into non-core companies. If you are willing to get into core companies it's better to work hard and update yourself with technology.

Coming to Hostels, there are single, double and as well as three sharing rooms. Boys and Girls hostels are separate. To be specific, girls hostels are bit near to the college compared to boys hostel. The total cost varies depending on the sharing and AC. The latter ones are costlier compared to non AC. All facilities are available such as battery backup, first aid, cleaning etc. Care takers will be there in hostel 24*7, incase if you have any problems you can tell them.

The only constraint for students will be that, they should be back by 11 at night. Biometric and signing system is there, and is strict when it comes to student safety. If a student wants to go to their native, then prior permission should be taken from parents. Overall, it’s good. Food is the most important thing if you are away from home. Food court 1 & 2, Annapurna, Ashraya etc. are some of the mess that are available. You don’t have to worry about the quality and quantity of the food. Wide varieties of dishes are prepared so that students won’t be bored. I know most of you have this doubt as well whether non veg is available or not. Yes, it is available three days a week.

There are five academic blocks for engineering as well as architecture students. Usually most of UG classes will be in academic block 5. Classrooms are highly equipped with light, fan, AC and others. Library will be open till 11 PM including weekends. Laboratories are highly equipped with new and upgraded devices. Mechanical, civil as well as automobile workshops are there to give practical knowledge to the students. Sir SMV auditorium and library auditorium are there and most of the events are held there.

Playgrounds are near to the hostel and basket ball, cricket, hockey and foot ball grounds are available. Marena is a sport and fitness complex near to the college, where you can find jogging track, different game courts and gym. Jogging track is absolutely free to students but courts and gym can be availed in cheap prices. Cafeteria is near to the academic blocks. Stores such as printing and stationary are near to the college block. In case of medical emergency, 24*7 support will be provided from the university. If you are planning to start your business then there is a place called innovation center where you will get all the support to kick start your idea.

As soon as you get an admission to this college, the first thing that attracts you is the liveliness of the campus. Talents day will be organized in the beginning, especially for fresher to showcase their talent in various fields. There will be technical fest called tech tattva in the month of September and October also a cultural fest called Revels in the month of March. Lot of other activities can be seen in campus such as jam night, club events etc. Lot of sports club such as football, basketball and cricket clubs are there. Also, intercollegiate sport event will be held in the biggest festival called UTSAV. Manipal marathon is the event where all age group people come together and run for a social cause.

Spending weekends here is the best. There are lots of places nearby where you can hang out with your friends. Some places such as end point, Dr. TMA Pai Museum, planetarium, anatomy museum and many more. Lot of events will be going on in MAHE. One of my favorites is kite festival which is held in the month of February. There are many clubs where you can volunteer and help different people. Blood donation, orphanage visit, slum visit and clean Manipal campaign are some of the volunteering events where you can volunteer and do some help to society. There is an open space called student plaza where you can just and enjoy with your friends.
