PES University Pharm.D Review By Krish Radha

PES University is located in Bangalore near Banashankari. PES has many departments which include engineering, computer science, biotechnology, pharmacy, and commerce. One of the newest programs that have been started is the Pharm D. course, which I am a part of. You can get admitted into this course regardless of whatever stream you were part of. All you need is passing marks in 12th standard. The process starts off with you going to the office, and meeting the clerk. She will let you know about all the documents required. You can also ask about the fee scheme. After this, you can submit your documents. These will include your 10th and 12th marks, and if you are from Karnataka, you can submit your CET marks. The college is managed by dean, and he is very friendly. He talks to the students and helps with any issues you may have.

This college I would say is average in academics. Actually, I would say that you get what you put into it. It provides both graduate and post-graduate courses. Some of the streams include pharmaceutics, formulations, and pharmacognosy. I am currently pursing my Pharm D. and there is no entrance exam or anything. I joined this course because I wanted to get into clinical research. One of the subjects we have is called clinical research which allows a whole year for us to focus on it. That course I felt definitely helped me to grow my interest in the subject. Many of my seniors have become clinical research associates, so I think this course will help me to do the same.

There are a total of 40 professors in our college. Many of the teachers in this college are fresher and don’t have much experience. However, there are some teachers who are the head of departments of subjects such as pharmacy practice and biochemistry who have taught for over 20 years. Most of them have done their doctorates in their respective subjects, and you can always go to them for any doubts you may have with the subject. These teachers teach us in practical subjects such as labs. This is important because this is where we actually get to build up our skills for our future careers.

This college does have a placement cell. Some of the companies that come for placements are Indegene, Vyuhgenics, and Bioclinica. You can usually expect packages between Rs. 3-5 lakhs. Some of the positions that they are looking to fill are that of a drug safety associate, pharmacist, clinical research associate, and medical writer. The college tries to place as many students as it can. The placements usually start in the month of October which gives an ample amount of time for everyone to attend interviews before finishing college in June.

There is one boys hostel and 3 girls hostels. The boys’ hostel is situated inside the campus itself. There is a curfew time which is 10 pm. The food is comparatively good when compared to other college hostels. There are two canteens that are located near the hostels. There are many facilities near the hostel including a gym and a football field. The girls’ hostels are located near the college. The food is average, but there are many small restaurants available to eat at near the vicinity of these hostels. The annual cost for the hostel ranges between Rs. 1 lakh to 1.5 lakhs depending on the type of room you want. You can get any type of room from single room to four-sharing room. Both the boys’ and girls’ hostel have security outside all day and all night long.

The facilities in this college are probably the best part about it. You can find stuff for any of your needs. There is a library on campus that you can go to study before exams. You can also play football or cricket on the football and cricket fields. There is a big parking area for cars and bikes. So, parking is not an issue. There is a large canteen on campus with choices varying from Chinese to Italian. This is great to satisfy all of your cravings.

Overall, I would say that the campus life is above average in my college. There are many clubs to be a part of for all types of interests. Some of these include the photography club, the dance club, and the singing club. We also have many sports teams such as basketball and cricket. I recommend you to join one of the clubs in your fresher year because it really helps you to meet people with similar interests as you. We have one major annual fest called Aatmatrisha in which we invite over 20 colleges to participate in. Our college sets up a stage on the cricket ground, and all the events happen there. Apart from this, there are many events throughout the year such as Fresher events and Onam celebrations. Overall, this college not only focuses on academics, but lets us enjoy our college years as well.
