Since this is an IIT, government is spending some decent amount of money on its infrastructure, academics, sports, etc. The best thing about this that has made me to choose this one is its strong alumni network. There is almost every facility you will find in its campus as in any other IIT. This college is known for its contribution to sectors like Mining, Mineral and Earth Science Engineering.

Coming to the Academics part, IIT Dhanbad is renowned for its strong academics' program in Engineering, Applied Sciences and Management, which also reflects in the NIRF Rankings. It consistently ranks among the top engineering colleges in India. This college provides B.Tech in various disciplines like Mining, Petroleum, Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, Chemical and many more, also Integrated M.Sc programs in Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics and Mathematics and Computing. Also, this college has strict 75% attendance criteria to follow.

Now, Professors are highly qualified as you will in most of the other IITs. They are trained to teach in premier institutes like IITs. Every Professor has their own specialization in their fields. And the course structure is designed in such a way that to enhance student's practical knowledge and make them industry ready.

Since this college has a very strong alumni network, placement has not been a big issue in this college. Top recruiting companies of our colleges are Microsoft, Baker Hughes, ONGC, GS, Tata Steel, Vedanta, etc. Also, there are some branches like Petroleum Engineering, Mining Engineering from which students get placed very easily with decent salary packages.

Coming to the best part of college life i.e., Hostels, this college has 6 Boys Hostels and 3 girl’s hostels. The Freshers stays in Amber Hostel which is divided into four blocks named A, B, C and D. In the first 3 years you will have to accommodate in double rooms which are manageable in 1st year but 2nd year onwards it’s spacious. Each block has its own Badminton Court, Common Rooms with TV. 24x7 Electricity with water supply (Cold or Hot) is always available. There you might face some internet connectivity problems since you will have to manage with LANs only (no Wi-Fi). Every hostel has one regular mess and an Amul Canteen and Nescafe Shop. In 2nd and 3rd Year, students will get newly build Aquamarine Hostel (which is the best hostel in terms of infrastructure). And, in the 4th year they will shift to Jasper hostel.

All the classes of 1st year students take place in New Lecture Hall Complex. There are buildings for every department. This college has the Asia's 2nd Largest technical Library (fully air-conditioned). In Student Activity Centre, it consists of every indoor game which you can think of, also having a large Swimming Pool. Every College Clubs operates from SAC. SAC also have a Cafeteria which provides high quality food at low cost. Also, ISM has its own Shopping Mart inside its Campus. It also has an upper Ground and a lower ground and various gardens for spending your good time.

This institute hosts many fests including Srijan (Cultural Fest) and Concetto (Technical fest), Parakram (Games and Sports Fest) Basant (The Alumni Reunion). There are various clubs (around 30+) in IIT ISM which are technical, cultural and sports clubs. Think of any Co-Curricular Activities, you will find a bunch of likeminded guys in the respective clubs.
