With the commencement of Independence, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru founded the Indian Maritime University, Kolkata to acknowledge the growing need for marine engineers in India. It was recognised by a different name until the year 1995 and then it was renamed as Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI). MERI combined with (Indian Institute of Port Management) IIPM makes the Kolkata campus of the Indian Maritime University.
The university aims to impart learning opportunities and other useful resources to the cadets. The institute’s curriculum is designed so they can appear for the MEO-Examinations conducted by the Ministry of Shipping (MOS).
IMU-Kolkata offers one UG program (4 Years) and two PG programs (2 Years) that include:

There they can fill out the application form and download the course brochure. After the documents have been submitted, the application fee needs to be paid online.
