Glow up of Life at IMU Kolkata

Overall Rating
At first, it may seem a lot but eventually, it gets normal. From waking up at 5 AM to going for sports at 5 PM, whole day is packed and planned. Only few may be able to adapt to the reality and routine. It is not called 'DMET: Where Boys become Men' for nothing. The environment and seniors are what set this university different and unique from others. I chose this university due to its prestige and its brand. This university is an all rounder. IMU Kolkata is still relevant in maritime sector.
 

Academics Rating
To enroll here, you have to foremost get more than 65% in CBSE board. There are other criteria for other boards along with 60%+ PCM aggregate as well as more than 50% in English. If you have passed in all those, you are qualified for IMU CET exam. You have to be one among top 1000 ranks to get the admission. Although, there are certain exceptions like SC, ST, etc. There is a state quota which gives preference to some states. Once you achieve the expected rank, you will have to go for university allocation. Finally, you are in the university which is also known as DMET & MERI.
The fee structure is self justified with Rs. 1,22,500 being even semester fee and Rs. 1,52,500 being odd semester fee. in which Rs. 30,000 is the caution deposit. There are numerous scholarships for EWS which help you to pay the fee. If you are from Bihar or UP, you hit a jackpot. Females also have various scholarships which can be found on IMU’s official website.
 

Faculty Rating
According to my opinion, the faculty is not up to the mark. I wish they could improvise and maybe even hire more qualified teachers with more fun teaching skills.
 

Placement Rating
Finally, the most awaited part: Is the placement good in this university or not? Well, there are 247 cadets in 4th year, out of which, 189 of them are placed. Synergy, Chevron, NYK line, OSK lines, Dynacom Tankers, MSC, etc. are some of the prestigious companies which visit our university. Placement is not the concern in this university but rather what actual concern is when and where you want your placement.
 

Hostel Rating
I would rate the hostel 10 out of 10. The place where memories are made, where you grow out of your shell, where you start your new journey and so much more. It is also a temple for pass out students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Well, there are projectors, ACs, and other basic necessities. There is a library with printing and Xerox access for the cheapest price. There are 2 canteens and 1 basic stationery. The campus contains a big ground which is divided for different sports like Hockey, Football, Cricket, and Kabaddi. There are also basketball and volleyball courts.
 

Campus Rating
The environment is friendly. You will surely get to learn time management and grow up well as a disciplined person.

    This institute is regarded as the most acclaimed institute around the world on Marine Engineering for its discipline, dedication and placement record. The curriculum is well structured with respect to the course (marine engineering) supported by the experienced faculties.
