Vel Tech University, also known as the Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology started operations in 1997. This Deemed-to-be-University is located at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

It is approved by UGC & AICTE and is recognised by BCI, Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and the Government of Tamil Nadu. Moreover, the University is accredited by NAAC & NBA.

The Vel Tech Dr. RR & Dr. SR University Chennai offers approximately 21 UG, around 17 PG, and Ph.D courses to the students at an affordable fee structure. It runs around 8 Schools which are School of Management, School of Law, School of Electrical & Communication, and so on.

* For PG courses like M.A, M.Sc, and MBA, students must have secured at least 50% marks in the respective qualifying exam.

Admission Process

Students interested and eligible for admission can apply via online or offline mode. For Online admission, students have to register themselves on the University’s official website & then fill-in the application form, followed by paying the requisite fee and uploading the requisite documents.

For the Offline process, students can obtain the application forms from the Regional Offices of the University and send a demand draft along with a Requisition Letter containing their full address at the campus.

Admission is done on the basis of the merit in the requisite entrance test & qualifying exam.

Note: Admission to the B.Tech program is done in multiple phases i.e., Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3.

* Over-written and incomplete application forms will be rejected by the concerned authorities.

Vel Tech Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship

This scholarship scheme is available for the students looking forward to enrolling in the B.Tech program. However, they can avail any one among the two in which their ranks are higher; the details about the same are as follows:

• Merit Scholarship for Eligible Students

On the basis of the aggregate marks in PCM in the qualifying exam, the students are awarded scholarships in the form of Tuition Fee Waiver. The details are as follows:

Note: 50% scholarship is offered to students seeking admission in Phase 1 (under AI & ML / AI & DS / IT discipline) and Phase 3 (under CSE / CSE specialisations). Moreover, 75% scholarship onwards is granted to the students who are willing to get admission in Phase 3 in Biotech, ECE, and CSD fields.

• Scholarship for VTUEEE Rank Holders

The University conducts the Vel Tech Undergraduate Engineering Entrance Examination (VTUEEE) for offering admission to the students in the B.Tech courses. Based on this, the students securing the top ranks can avail scholarship as given-below:
