Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana is equipped with world-class amenities and state-of-the-art infrastructure & provides a conducive learning environment to the students. There are several buildings and blocks in the PAU Ludhiana campus for academic and non-academic purposes.
The Punjab Agricultural University covers a land area of approximately 1222 acres and has an off-campus area of around 5742 acres. To offer an enhanced and lively ambience to the students, various world-class facilities are offered to the students at the Punjab Agricultural University campus. The amenities include fully-furnished smart classrooms, examination halls, seminar rooms, auditoriums, canteen, gym, and many others.
To give students a memorable academic life and real-time knowledge, several state-of-the-infrastructural amenities are available inside the premises. The Punjab Agricultural University campus has lecture rooms and classrooms that are enabled with internet connectivity, and LCD projectors & interactive boards to provide enhanced learning experience to the students.
Moreover, the premises has multiple auditoriums namely, ‘Dr. Manmohan Singh Auditorium’ with a seating capacity of approximately 1000+ students, ‘Pal Auditorium’ having an accommodation capacity of around 617 students, and several others. The total capacity of all the auditoriums is 5913+ students. These air-conditioned auditoriums are equipped with advanced audio-visual equipment, adequate stage lighting, and sound systems. An ‘Open Air Theatre’ is also present within the University campus with a seating capacity of around 3600 students.
There is a dedicated block for the students called ‘Students’ Home Building’ that can be used by them to spend leisure time. Furthermore, there is a bank, post office, PAU Health Centre, sports facility, mini market, and several other facilities to cater to the daily needs of the students.
Various amenities offered to the students at the premises of the University are mentioned below:
- Library: The University library is named ‘Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa Library’, which is built across an area of approximately 93,320 square feet & has a seating capacity of about 760+ students. It is a 5-storey, centrally air-conditioned building with around 6 reading halls & 2 outer reading halls known as the ‘Saxena Reading Hall’ & ‘Kulbir Singh Gill Reading Hall’.
The computerised library has a huge collection of around 4,24,993 library resources including books, e-books, journals, online databases, etc. Moreover, the library has 24/7 Wi-Fi connectivity and it has automated its various operations as well such as Circulation, Cataloguing, etc.
- Laboratories: There are various Computer labs in the campus for the students to complete their academic tasks. There are several labs present in the College of Agriculture, College of Horticulture and Forestry, and College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology at the University. Some of the well-equipped labs present are Molecular Biology lab, Biological Control Toxicology lab, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) lab, Electronic Microscopy and Nanoscience (EMN) lab, to name a few.
- Sports: The Punjab Agricultural University campus has state-of-the-art infrastructure for both indoor and outdoor sports. Adequate outdoor infrastructure such as Grounds and Courts are available for Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Handball, Volleyball, and Basketball. Additionally, Synthetic Hockey Surface, Cycling Velodrome and Swimming Pool, Athletic Tracks, etc. are present to ensure students grow holistically. Furthermore, indoor sports facilities such as Courts for Badminton & Table Tennis, and Shooting Range are also present within the campus.
- Hostels: There are separate residential facilities for male and female students inside the Punjab Agricultural University campus. There are around 6 boys’ hostels and about 7 for girls. The Punjab Agricultural University Hostel rooms are fully-furnished with essential amenities such as common room, indoor games facilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, etc.
The mess serves delicious and nutritious food to the hostellers. Moreover, 24/7 security ensures a safe and secure environment for the hostel residents.
- Canteen: At the Punjab Agricultural University campus, Amul and Verka parlours are present that serve different types of snacks to satisfy the varied taste buds of the staff members & students. Additionally, around 2 canteens are also present within the premises to serve beverages, sweets and snacks at a subsidised rate to the students & staff members.
- Healthcare / Medical Facilities: There is a 20-bed University Hospital spread across an area of approximately 16,604 square feet. Medical professionals including Medical Officers, Staff Nurse, Nursing Assistants, etc. provide medical assistance to the students & faculties. Moreover, a University Health Centre is present to provide regular & 24*7 emergency medical services to the students. An ambulance is available for emergency purposes.
- Gymnasium: Punjab Agricultural University campus has an indoor modern Gymnasium that has a carpet area of 39,000 square feet. It is fully-equipped with modern equipment for the students to perform weight training & aid their overall wellbeing.
- Banking: There are around 3 branches of nationalised banks & ATMs namely, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Axis Bank at the Punjab Agricultural University campus to provide money and finance-related services to the students.
The students can learn and grow holistically through participation in various extra-curricular activities organised by the clubs present at the Punjab Agricultural University campus.
