The BIT Bangalore is located at the prime site of the city, and has a modern & state-of-the-art infrastructure to provide a conducive learning environment to the students. The Institute has adequate facilities for the specially-abled students so that they can access the learning & non-educational resources of the Institute conveniently.
Located at Bangalore, Karnataka, the Bangalore Institute of Technology campus is spread across 5.3 acres of land. At the premises, the students are offered ample amenities to support their 360-degree development. The academic & non-academic facilities include Internet connection, digital classrooms, libraries, laboratories, seminar & conference room, canteen, auditorium, hostels, medical services, to name a few.
At the BIT Bangalore campus, there are around 97 digital classrooms available to enrich the teaching-learning experience of the students. The premises have various seminar halls including a Main Seminar Hall & MBA Seminar Hall having a seating capacity of around 240 & 90 students, respectively. These seminar halls are Wi-Fi enabled & have the latest audio-visual aids to conduct the educational activities.
Moreover, there is a multipurpose auditorium named ‘Kuvempu Kalakshetra’ that can accommodate more than 800 students. The auditorium is well-equipped with the essential devices to conduct the academic & cultural events. Additional infrastructural facilities include a conference room, xerox center, and so on.
Below-discussed are some of the major educational & non-educational infrastructural facilities available for the students at the Bangalore Institute of Technology campus:
- Library: The Institute has a computerised & Wi-Fi enabled central library at the campus. Apart from this, there is a separate well-stacked MCA library, MBA library, and numerous departmental libraries. The central library covers a carpet area of approximately 1500 square metres & can accommodate around 290 students. Additionally, the central library has a reading room spread over an area of 74 square metres having a seating capacity of around 60 students. It has a vast assortment of approximately 92,576 books, 11 newspapers, 20 magazines, 2501 bound volumes, 7918 e-journals, and 48912 e-books.
There are 30+ computers available to access the digital library; also, remote access to the same is provided to the students. Other facilities include reprographic services, membership with Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Digital Library of India (NDLI), CMTI (Central Manufacturing Technology Institute), etc.
- Laboratories: There are around 8 computer labs at the BIT Bangalore campus that are fully-fledged with the latest systems for the students to enhance their digital skills. In addition to this, the Institute has about 77 laboratories that are equipped with the latest equipment to improve the practical skills of the students as per the latest industry requirements.
The labs are available for departments like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, etc. Some of the laboratories include Geotechnical engineering lab, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery lab, Power Electronics lab, and more.
- Sports: The Institute has a Department of Physical Education & Sports that conducts various sports events & tournaments for the students to develop their interest in the sports. Indoor sports facilities include an Indoor Sports Area named ‘BIT Sports Room’ comprising 2 halls wherein 1 is utilised for Table Tennis and the other for Chess & Carrom.
For outdoor sports, there is a Quadrangle area, Mini Cricket Ground, 2 Shuttle Badminton Courts, Volleyball Court, Basketball Court, Badminton Court, Kabbaddi Court, etc. Furthermore, facilities for Athletics, Ball badminton, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kho Kho, Netball, Throw ball, etc. are available.
- Hostels: The boys & girls are offered separate hostel facilities. The boys’ BIT Bangalore Hostel has nearly 136 rooms & 69 rooms for the female students that are offered on a sharing basis. The girls’ hostel is located around 4 Km from the premises.
At the hostels, the residents are provided with fully-furnished rooms, and various other amenities to stay in a secure & comfortable environment. The facilities include round the clock security, reading room, sports facilities, medical service, and much more. Furthermore, the hostellers are served hygienically prepared meals 4 times a day at the dining hall of the hostels.
- Canteen: There are around 2 canteens present within the BIT Bangalore campus. The canteens are well-maintained wherein the students & faculties are served with freshly prepared dishes & beverages.
- Transportation: Transportation facilities are available for the students & staff to travel from various locations of the city to the BIT Bangalore campus.
- Medical Facilities: The students are provided with medical services by the Institute in collaboration with the KIMS Hospital that is located nearby.
- Banking: At the BIT Bangalore campus, students are provided with banking & ATM facilities to fulfil their financial requirements. There is a Canara Bank branch on the 1st floor of the main building along with an ATM counter.
There are more than 30 student clubs formed to conduct various activities & events at the BIT Bangalore campus. The purpose of these clubs is to encourage the students to participate in the co-curricular & extracurricular activities & develop lifetime skills. In addition to this, various committees are formed to ensure that discipline & harmony is maintained among the students.
