Narula Institute of Technology (NIT), Kolkata has a ragging-free campus with various state-of-the-art amenities to facilitate a holistic learning environment for the students. The infrastructure of the Institute is equipped with adequate facilities for the disabled students.
The Narula Institute of Technology campus is spread over 5 acres of land with a built-up area of approximately 26,395 square meters which is surrounded with lush greenery. The Narula Institute of Technology provides access to various amenities like ICT-enabled classrooms, seminar halls, central library, canteen, residential facilities, etc. to the students.
The Institute offers several facilities to the students which help them maintain academic life with ample exposure to other activities. It has around 66 ICT enabled classrooms with proper ventilation and adequate seating arrangement. Additionally, there are several tutorial rooms and around 2 lecture halls to provide a smooth learning experience to the students.
Narula Institute of Technology campus also has an open space which can accommodate around 100 students. Moreover, there are two common rooms with each having an accommodation capacity of 60 students.
Apart from this, there is a sound proof multipurpose hall spread across an area of 278 square meters with a seating capacity of nearly 400 students. Moreover, multiple auditoriums namely ‘Sir J.C Bose Auditorium’, and ‘Dr. S Radhakrishnan Auditorium’ are present within the campus with adequate seating space.
In addition, at Narula Institute of Technology campus, there is a conference room, around 8 ICT enabled seminar halls, 5 digital studios with AV technology for projection & recording, spacious yoga centres, etc. Students also get facilities like 1 Gbps internet bandwidth, biometric attendance system, nearly 305 CCTVs, and more.
Apart from the aforementioned amenities, there are several other facilities provided to the students at NIT Kolkata campus; some of these are as follows:
- Library: The automated central library of Narula Institute of Technology campus is spread over an area of approximately 1244.87 square meters. It has a rich collection of around 90,000 printed books, along with subscriptions to nearly 10 magazines and 7 newspapers.
Additionally, a digital zone is available which provides access to NDL, comprising around 10 dedicated computer systems. Through these, students can access around 6000 e-journals and more than 1,99,500 e-books. Students can also utilise the facilities of the reading room which has a seating space of around 150 students, reference sections, internet section, etc.
- Laboratories: The Institute has central computing lab amenities with 450+ computers that are equipped with the latest hardware features. Moreover, there are around 1010 active PCs on-campus for smooth academic and research activities. Apart from this, there are several other departmental laboratories like Hydraulic lab, PLC lab, Electrical Engineering labs, Civil Engineering labs, etc.
- Sports: Multi-purpose sports ground spread over 3685 square metres of land is available at NIT Kolkata campus where students can engage in multiple sport activities like Cricket, Football, Hand Ball, Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Discuss Throw and Tug of war. Moreover, there is a dedicated badminton court for students.
Several indoor games facilities are available at the Institute such as TT Tables, Ludo Boards, Rubix Cubes, Carom, and Chess boards. Additionally, the Institute also organises many sports activities throughout the year besides the annual sport meet for the overall well-being of students.
- Hostels: The Narula Institute of Technology Hostel provides a home-like environment to the students by offering spacious and semi-furnished rooms. There are separate on-campus and off-campus hostels for girls and boys.
In addition, the Institute has dining and mess facilities which serve healthy vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals to the students. Various amenities are also provided to inmates of the hostel like Wi-Fi, water purifier, water cooler, canteen, medical facilities, etc.
- Canteen: Narula Institute of Technology campus has a spacious canteen which serves a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian snacks and food to the students.
- Transportation: The Institute has a Transportation Department which has around 3 buses to commute students. Moreover, the Institute has a contract with car-hiring agencies for transportation as and when needed.
- Medical Facilities: The NIT Kolkata campus has a medical centre to provide first-aid treatment to students in case of emergencies. Adequate facilities like beds, doctors, etc. are available. Moreover, students get the facility of free medical check-ups every so often.
