The courses are structured to provide strong theoretical knowledge to apply in practical life, research, policy making and in industry. MA Economics is really challenging particularly for those who are came from non-DU colleges. Courses are quite Mathematical in nature. It provides huge knowledge in advanced Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Econometrics, Game theory, and Development Economics. Academically it is one of the best colleges in India. Admission through CUET exam conducted by NTA, eligibility criteria is you must have bachelor degree with Mathematics in UG or 12th.

I chose M.A. Economics since I was interested in Economics from a very young age. I took economics in my undergrad as well. DSE requires one to have math in class 11 and 12th. Admission is done through CUET PG from past two three years now. Half of the seats are reserved for DU students so the cut-off is a bit less for them. There are 4 semesters in total and each semester has 1 mid-term and 1 final exam. Currently final exams have 70% while mid terms/class performance has 26-30% weight.

The course structure here is more ethnographic. Many have this notion about social science disciplines that how it is all about theories and there is no as such real life applications. But here the course focuses on the contemporary issues and ideas as well as looking into various empirical fieldworks. One of the best parts of the course is that anyone can join it. My batchmates have come from various other backgrounds like that of Physics and Chemical Engineering as well. Entry is simply through CUET- PG. If you have completed your undergraduate degree from Delhi University then that would be an added advantage. If someone is really passionate about Sociology and into building a career in academics, then this is the best place to be in without a second thought.
