Thadomal Shahani Engineering College is a place where you will have a lot of opportunities but not engineering. From studies point of view it’s better that there are various other engineering colleges in Mumbai because after 4 years, you will have a BE degree but will get skilled in other things like marketing, publicity, event management and for sure dancing as every event in the college was celebrated with a dance floor being arranged. In addition to all these, you will also learn how to become pet of teachers and after staying 4 years in the college one thing that will learn the most is politics. Talking about the positive from my point of view, I met some of nicest people that I will ever in my life. Mumbai University as a whole is strict for ragging and must say it is completely eradicated now from TSEC for sure. I and my friends had a great time as we were busier with the committees we worked for and also honed my skills. Thus if you want to be proficient in engineering then don’t ever join this college but if you other objectives for which you want to join college then you will not find a better place than TSEC.

Irregularities in classes are a common thing. From both ends actually as sometimes teachers avoided taking the lectures while students had countless reasons to not attend the classes. Before the University exams, the management used to come and gave us a lecture on how to prepare for exams as classes hold no importance in studies. For engineering, self-study is the way to go. This also showed in the result as the students that has backlog are more than students who clear the exams.

I will have to take a breather recollecting all that happened and the kind of teachers that we had. Even junior college teachers were better than Degree College. They used to come and talk about their laurels and that is how they completed the portions. The question bank was provided by each teachers saying you just solve this and you will clear the exams. Hats off to the quality teaching staff that we had and the best part were HOD was caught sleeping in his cabin but has influence behind him and that is why he has been able to hold that prestigious position for so long.

Since the college has some politicians backing the companies used to visit the campus and from CS out of 80, I assume 8-10 did have the job. For rest of us we were again given such a beautiful speech by our principal that you have earned a great learning and now it’s time to implement all the art that you have learned at the college in the companies that you join. Most of us got engaged with event management or wedding planners companies and trust me they are doing exceptionally well. University should look after such colleges as we can have less colleges and compete for the seats but opening colleges under University just to rise the number will not be beneficial either for University or for students.

The college doesn’t have a hostel facility. The campus area is small and it’s impossible to have a hostel inside the campus. The college has their reservations at Baramati hostel and some private hostels nearby. Many students who are from other states have agreed terms with house owners and stay as a paying guests near the college premises.

The college infrastructure is awesome without a doubt. The college library houses almost 50000 physical books and 5000 ebooks. The library turned digital and therefore the students has its access from anywhere. Any device is launched; first it will come to TSEC college labs that are for sure. The computer lab with 150 computers and completely air-conditioned was built just before I joined the college. The college is strict with cleanliness and if anyone is caught on camera throwing garbage, he/she has to pay for that. There are 2 seminar halls one small that has seating capacity for 100 students and the large one can accommodate 150 people. The college also has a common area known as students lounge. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The campus is small but has several required facilities.

If I talk about the number of committees in the college then they are diverse. Not just the entertainment related committees but education related as well. One such committee is MAD (Mobile App Developers). I was a part of their core group and during college that was the only productive thing that I learned. All the committees are headed by students and that was the best part as there is no biasness and even the people who want to learn were allowed to join the committee they wanted. The college also had a sports committee and I represented my college in Cricket during the first year and that is how I spent my campus life by being a part of diversified communities. I had my reasons to criticize and I was as honest with my review as I can be.
