Bhagini Nivedita College B.A Review By Sheetal Sharma

Well, I passed out in 2016, but still, the college memories are on my mind. It is the time most favorite time of all of us. I completed my graduation from Bhagini Nivedita College, Delhi University in the 2013-2016 batch. Getting admission to Delhi University was my dream it was also completed but I landed in not so my favorite college. It was nowhere less than a roller coaster ride for me. On the very first day, it was completely horrifying. Firstly it was very far from my place, I have to travel 25 km from one side. I literally cried my heart out on the first day, but I gathered all my power and went there on the second day and then the days started getting normal. The batch started and I met some of the very amazing teachers there. From the day of the fest and fresher’s party, I made a stronger bond with teachers and other faculty. My journey started and then continued with lectures, presentations, and guest lectures.

Well, the academic was one interesting part for me, because I have been a non-medical student till school and later changed my field to History Honours. Everything was completely new for me. Glad that there was no entrance for the admission but to change in field percentage increase was asked. I wanted to pursue Government exams and thought History will help me out being a common and good ranking subject in all the government exams. When classes started it was a jam-packed schedule according to a time-table. But luckily we were not having evening classes more. With the classes, presentation and regular evaluation become one important part. It was a total of 6 semesters journey and guess what, I topped in my department.

In my faculty experience, there was a complete blend of good and bad. Having 4-5 subjects mainly leads you to 4-5 teachers of different personalities and mindsets. I met some of the finest teachers with whom I am still in contact. But there were one or two that I never wanted to see their faces again. But on honest review, I was from the English medium side, so I had great teachers that were just beyond education, they were highly qualified. I connected with them as a friend and they also helped in several ways. So I was satisfied with the faculty of my department.

I rate it completely zero, as there was no opportunity for campus placement for our department. This hit all of my batch mates hard because even after securing a good score, there was no job. But there are placement facilities for other courses, so try your luck in them.

There was no hostel facility provided, but there some PGs and accommodations in the vicinity. So it is not a matter to fret to stay there. They are secured and provide you with food as well.

Well, it was a complete disappointment initially but by the time when you have no other option you have to adjust anyways. The College area was big and fine, but the facilities were less. The college had very less sporting facilities, but of course, that wasn’t my area of interest. The library was fine but from the viewpoint of the book of subject only. I found all the books related to my subjects but no other extra reading books. It had the capacity of 25-30 students at a time. It also had a canteen that was just serving with 5-6 food options. Initially, the food wasn’t good but later it changed. We were just provided with fans no matter how hot the temperature is.

Overall Campus life was average there. I don’t think that you can develop much there because of a lack of opportunities. Fests and celebrations were okay types only. Well, the three years passed in a blink of an eye, just because of my friends and teachers only.
