Bennett University B.Tech Review By Karan Sadh

Many private Universities in the last decade or so have popped out but Bennett University is different. When I saw Bennett University B.Tech Fees of Rs. 13 Lakhs, I was skeptical that is higher than any other college. Bennett University Admission process was clean and gives you a vibe that the fees are genuine. All the doubts that were hovering around my head changed once I became a part of the illustrious family of Bennett University. While I was at the University what I saw was that Bennett wants to compete with global universities and was on its way to becoming one but the higher in-take has made the road tough now. The head-start to become an engineer was mind-blowing. The course is different from what you will find in normal Indian universities as Bennett University’s B.Tech course is derived from Georgia Technology Institute of United States. A Bennett Hatchery has been facilitated to make engineers entrepreneurs rather than just placing them in companies. All our ideas were entertained and taken care of. Bennett wants to compete with global Universities and therefore has hired the services of a Singapore-based company to design the campus. It is still developing but whatever is developed is again mind-blowing.

There’s a vast difference between India and abroad and luckily we had an opportunity to have international styled classrooms and syllabus. Practicals play a huge role in Engineering and CSE which was a newly introduced course that had coding and ethical hacking as a part of its curriculum. The University believed in the overall development and practical knowledge was for that reason was given more importance. The University believed in imparting the correct knowledge so that we become multifaceted engineers. The University laid a framework and students had to be sincere as the studies at the University were demanding.

The faculty was mostly young and funny and kept things light. On the experience front, the faculty may not score but overall they were nice. The faculty members asked us to concentrate more on practicals as even if you are not clear with theory the practical of the same will help you understand the topic better. Not just college faculty but every year we had guest lectures from Georgia Tech faculty as well. Combing both the faculty we were taught cloud computing. The only con was that the dean was changed thrice in my 4 years of college. The University should know about maintaining the staff as they are the core of the University.

Bennett University Placement cell has tie-up with foreign companies and universities and companies. As a part of the summer internship, we were sent to Babson Global, USA. Those couple of weeks were the best as we learned the difference between how industries go about their business in India and abroad. This was during the 4th semester and then from the 6th semester onwards, the student's training started and finally the placement started happening two months before the final semester. After paying 13 lakhs as fees and 2-3 lakhs extra the placement that we got was below average. All top companies did visit the campus and offered jobs to most of us but none of us were satisfied. From my batch of 200+ students, 100+ were offered jobs but only 30-35 took the job offer. The University trained us well but didn’t place us well.

There were just 4 hostels during our time and more than 5-6 hostels were getting constructed. The rooms had ACs, TV sets, and study furniture along with a nice set of bed. The hostel also has sporting facilities in each of the buildings like TT tables and a common volleyball court. All the rooms are provided on twin sharing and as of our time the boy's hostel strength was 1000 but it will be increased to 4000 in years to come as this is what the college brochure says. The girl's hostel buildings were like hotels as my friends staying there used to upload her pics and we all were like wow. The boys and girls hostel had a separate dining hall.

Bennett University Campus is still getting constructed and 2-3 JCBs are always in the campus. Some 8-10 buildings are ready and 10-12 are getting ready. The University central library building was huge and fully air-conditioned. One can spend hours and hours at the library as it was well equipped and the reading area was comfortable. The campus is huge as it is spread across 70 acres and has a bank and an ATM at the campus. There were almost 50-60 labs and for CSE students the NVIDIA Supercomputer lab was built for deep learning. There was also an Apple iMac Lab and Bennett University is the only University in India where Apple has installed its lab. Sports grounds are worth and college also has gears for all the sports that can be played at the campus. Due to increasing strength, the canteen has become way too overcrowded and I still remember during my last year, I have waited for 30 minutes to get my turn for food. Once completely developed Bennett University campus is going to be the best in the country.

The 2018 national level sports were held at the University since the campus has all the facilities for players from change rooms to locker rooms. The number of students has started increasing as the first batch had less than 200 students but it has now increased with 400+ students in each stream and therefore the quality check has gone. The campus is great and life at BU was even greater but like other Universities, they also have started chasing money in the last few years.
