Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering is popularly known as DJ Sanghvi which is located opposite to the very famous Cooper Hospital, in Vile Parle, Mumbai. When I was in the college it was MU affiliated but now it’s got autonomous tag - which is great news. The college management was so-so when I was in the college but now I suppose it should have improved as its autonomous now.

I had taken up Electronics and telecommunication as my degree course. The eligibility is through CET exam and the percentile cut-off is quite high. You need to be a scholar to get into this reputed college. The subjects cover good syllabus that which imparted a valid knowledge which is used in actual practical life and not just for passing the exams.

Few of the faculties were exceptionally great, having a sound knowledge of their subjects they taught. Maximum of the faculties have 20 to 30 years of experience. But there are also young talents in the faculty. Overall the faculty was average but everyone was helpful and friendly. Hence the tuning between the student and professor was set good.

If you’re a part of DJ Sanghvi, be assured that you won’t be jobless. You’re bound to have a job in hand before completing your degree. But you’re not left out if you don’t get one, as the placement officer gives you a chance to appear for interviews even after passing out. Hence, I’d say the placements are excellent. MNCs like TCS and Accenture pick up large number of students in the very beginning of the placement drives. This leaves most of the students tension free. The average package offered by the companies is 4 Lakhs.

The college does not have hostel. This can’t be a drawback because you’ll get a plethora of options in Mumbai to live. You can reach this college from Andheri or Vile Parle station. But it's on walking distance from Vile Parle station. You need to take an auto rickshaw from Andheri which takes around 10 minutes.

The infrastructure is just like a 5-star hotel as many of the students are left open-mouthed when they see the college for the first time. Most of the engineering colleges are lavish but this one is larger than life. The canteen has a tranquil feeling and you get delicious items out there that too at affordable rates. The I’ve definitely put on weight in the course of 4 years. The college is equipped with an air-conditioned and Wi-Fi friendly library. The classroom too are air-conditioned which feels like heaven in the humid climate of Mumbai. Labs are well-maintained as compared to the other Engineering colleges. One more thing, the Chinese food in this college’s canteen is superb, and it was heaven for me.

I enjoyed to the fullest in the college fests as it was organised on a grand level. The concerts, the food stalls were all exemplary. The campus life here is happening and chilled. I’ve had some awesome memories in this college which I’ve cherished till now. The crowd that comes in for fests is hi-class and cool. Everyone studying here also comes from affluent families. If you come from a middle class family, you may feel a little aloof in this college. But only for a while, because the college does not differentiate among its students.
