Ramaiah Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Komal Daga

If one wants a straight and direct answer on which is the best engineering college in Bangalore then that is Ramaiah Institute of Technology. I wish I joined this college for UG itself because the placements for UG are also so good that if the placement is the only criteria then one may not have to join a PG college. It’s not like completing a degree at Ramaiah because the institute has a lot to offer other than studies. The academic part at the college was research and discussion-based. Moreover, you can be a part of as many extra-curricular activities that you want and you still can pass with good numbers. Ramaiah Engineering College location is also one of the best in Bangalore. Each department be it UG they have at least one club of their own and trust me I learn coding at that club more than I learned at the classes.

Above all it was CGPA and maintaining them did some doing. For M.Tech the classes were regular and even on weekends, we were called up for discussions and guest lectures. It was a hard-length ball thrown at us and we didn’t have the opportunities to duck. Computer labs were always full with M.Tech students as students would go in clusters to complete the tasks assigned. Internals were as important as the mains and we also had to take time out for other activities because that is why we joined Ramaiah. Thus, if you want to enjoy life to the fullest at Ramaiah join it from UG itself.

The faculty were so sweet and the age never became a barrier. Out of 12 faculty members, there was not a single one who was below 40. They were not narrow-minded and never had issues with girls and boys participating in teams. They encouraged so and taught like that in an office there will be both so here’s an opportunity for you to audition for how you will be living your life at the corporate level. They coped with the modern way of teaching and could do presentations better and faster than us.

Now coming to Ramaiah Institute of Technology placement part one of the students during our time created history as he got a package worth 44 lakhs. I have never heard of any such figure in my life before that and I am trying my best to just reach that level. 100s of companies under 1 roof in a span of 3 months is how long the placements took place. The college had a paid training program and because I was in no mood to go back home, I took that program and was given vocational training that helped me impress none other than Westlife Development. For those who don’t know what Westlife Development does, they are the distributing company of McDonald's in India. I was skeptical that why would they need a computer engineer but their pay package was such that I put all these questions for rest and happy to be still associated with them. Also, I enjoy McVeggie burgers whenever I want. The crux of the matter here is the pay package as the average is 9-10 and the highest I already said.

Ramaiah Institute of Technology Hostel has 2 girls’ hostel blocks on the campus and luckily for PG students, the single occupancy rooms were also available. A fee of 80k was meager as in 80k, you can’t have a single room in the heart of Bangalore. I got used to South Indian food by the time, I joined this college. I have attended 2 colleges that had students from all across the country still I never had a North Indian or Rajasthani menu even once in my 6 years of hostel life in Bangalore. I hope somebody is listening and do something about it as I am providing a kind review but trust me many students had other ideas about the food.

Bangalore and its colleges are not completed unless they give an IT touch to it. The glass buildings and the modern setup made sure that tech-savvy students will never be bored even if they are miles away from home. A high-speed Wi-Fi facility was available at the campus. The library was big and even though the computer lab schedule never made me go to the library even once as one of my friends from another department brought my books through her id. The solar system has been not just adopted by Chinnaswami stadium but by many Bangalore colleges as well and Ramaiah was no different as Ramaiah too generates its electricity on their own. The indoor sporting facilities were separate for boys and girls. The canteen at the campus was my savior because it had hoards of North Indian dishes on the menu and whenever I craved for Paneer Butter Masala, I knew I was not far from getting one.

Events at MS Ramaiah Engineering College are endless. As soon as 1 is over, you will see hoardings of the others. The UG students were so fun to attract and interacting with them made me realize that we may have learned ethics at our UG College but still far from living engineering life to the fullest. The girls to boys ratio are always quite less at engineering colleges but at MSRIT’s CSE branch it was at least 60-40 where 60 in favour of boys. My one piece of advice for people coming to Bangalore for engineering, please make Ramaiah your 1st choice as I have seen 10-12 colleges in Bangalore but no one can beat Ramaiah.
