After a horrible run at the UG and wasting 1 year of my life to prepare for the entrance was all worth it as I can say proudly that I have passed out from one of the best engineering colleges in Bangalore. After applying for over 50 colleges, I was on cloud 9 after I got a call from Ramaiah Institute of Technology that I have been selected for the next round. For some, it was peanuts to maintain CGPA and for students like us, it was like a last nail in the coffin daily because we hardly had anything substantial from our undergraduate program. MSRIT may be in Bangalore but the presence of North Indian students never let me feel that I am at a far-off place from home. The day I landed I made a wish list of the things that I wanted to do and MSRIT made me fulfill all those desires. The college is an example of how to maintain dignity and produce the best engineers as 20-30% alumni base of the college is in abroad and serving at the top companies like IBM, Amazon, IKEA, and Saint Gobain among many others.

I was mesmerized in the first week itself. I was under so much pressure as I always had this feeling that I hardly know anything. The college made groups and made sure that we indulge in group studies and projects were never done individually. All these gestures made me regain my confidence back which was lost for a while. The innovative ways of studies as joking around and playing pranks in the class to lighten the mood was done on regular basis during the classes. The course content was adept in making the best engineers and the alumni of MSRIT are proof of that.

What should I say because I am speechless. The faculty members were so professional and friendly that they made us comfortable right from the word go. When I came to learn about the degrees they hold and the research that they have done in the respective field I was left numb. How on this earth can someone have such immense knowledge and have no attitude about it. All the faculty members were so grounded and would never run away from helping students. Many aspiring Ph.D. students were working under them and many times it happened that they sent their juniors to gain confidence. If I had to do a Ph.D., I would have seriously worked under them.

Before the final semester, I had a job letter and many of us had. The 2 months compulsory internship with MNCs made sure that we will learn the corporate culture before entering the corporate world. The learning and training that we had at the college was put under the hammer during the internship. I guess I passed all those tests with distinction and that is why on the last day of my internship I was called to discuss the salary part. I couldn’t believe it for a moment but when I saw the group buzzing with many students sharing the same story I asked the HR manager to pinch me as I still can’t believe it. One piece of advice for all the students who take up placement through the intern company, please avoid that as you will miss out on 20-30% extra because there is a difference in both the scenario.

Hostel got full by the time I applied and I had to live in a flat nearby. The hostel rooms are allotted on first cum first serve basis. The rooms are perhaps not enough because there are more outsiders in this college. However, it doesn’t matter in Bangalore as over 5 lakh students are residing in Bangalore and the government too had made a lot of facilities for them. One will never feel out of place in Bangalore as I never did.

Awesome, absolutely delightful, and out of the world is how the infrastructure was of MSRIT. The college looked like an Infotech park. The classrooms labs, audiovisual rooms, and library were all digital. The entire campus was high speed Wi-Fi enabled. The most innovative was the solar system adoption so that the college can generate its own electricity. A state like Rajasthan should learn from this as they can make better use of such technology. There were 2-3 recreation rooms for boys and girls at the college. The location of the college was also awesome as we had many places near the college campus. There were multiple canteens inside the campus and were good enough as I more often than not had lunch in the college canteen. There were many parks inside the college and the environment was quite peaceful at the college.

The canteen was our hide-out place at the campus. The college fest was one of the best I have seen and was probably one of the best in Bangalore as many students from other colleges came as the crowd and witnessed some gem of the talent from the bleachers. The students, teachers, infra, and all were gems. One just can’t have any complaint about the institute as it was simply flawless.
