Manav Rachna University M.Sc Review By Mansur Alam

One thing that Manav Rachna University has done is that it has made sure that students from Faridabad don’t have to migrate for studies. After missing narrowly for B.Sc at Manav Rachna, I finally got lucky the second time. I was not keen on doing M.Sc and that is why waited till the last day to pay the fees even after getting admission. Thank God, that I paid because not only I got the placements but the experience, on the whole, was fantastic. The University thankfully offers M.Sc with a limited seat and along with entrance, B.Sc numbers are also taken into account. The University is the top-ranked university in Faridabad and also has a good name in the Delhi-NCR circle. Activities at college surprised me because not just you will be encouraged but forced to participate. The college management will persuade you till their last breath and one dialogue that summed it up was, we are bored of the same faces so please participate. Moving forward the university has almost all the facilities that one needs during their academic career.

The studies part was pretty good and also everything else that came along with the studies. M.Sc was divided into 4 semesters and 8 subjects in each semester including the practicals. The third semester saw subject change as per the specialization. IT was my preferred and therefore theory turned into practical and the last 2 semesters were spent mostly at the labs. The coding, panther, and all which were all new for me had to be finished in a year. The faculty made sure that I stay on it and before time. It was Manav Rachna that backed me and supported students because coming from specialization in Physics from B.Sc and then switching to IT was not easy.

Same story again as some faculty gave their sweat and blood while some ignored. I had good terms with them and it’s because of that I got some leeway in practical marks even though I knew I haven’t done it well. The faculty were top graduates and their subject knowledge impressed me. One can ask them anything about the subjects and they will not ignore it. There was also a cell for complaint against the faculty and even if a single complaint was lodged the faculty had to answer. Little harsh on their part but the ones who showed less interest deserve to go under the hammer.

Manav Rachna University placement was excellent as before the final semesters ended, we knew we just had to clear the exams because on our previous markings we were hired. HP, Cognizant, and TCS have got our back and though less than what all of us expected, at least we got placed. M.Sc students also had to do the same job as the B.Tech students but even after doing post-graduation the placements for both the courses was more or less the same. The placement cell and faulty made a lot of effort and it wasn’t just our talent or scores that got us the job. It was their belief and training that helped us secure a comfortable white-collar job.

2 boys and 2 girl’s hostel are set up by the university. One girl's hostel which is newly built is close to the university campus while the rest others are inside the campus. Here again, though the students from Faridabad are not allowed to stay at the hostel. Manav Rachna for that matter is not so far and one can get a transportation facility of all sorts near the university. The hostel rooms are of different categories like occupancy, AC, and Non-AC rooms. Manav Rachna has students from other states as well and staying in a hostel can be fun of which I couldn’t be a part of.

Manav Rachna University campus is huge and is spread far and wide. The university library is palatial as it has a reading area that can accommodate 500 students. The library is also digital so you will be assigned a login id and password and you can access all the e-books from wherever you want. The canteen was disappointing as they charged too high and the college timings were such that one has to eat at the canteen. The lawns of the university were fresh and took all the fatigue out. The sporting facilities from indoor to outdoor were amazing. There were separate facilities for boys and girls and students at the university were found at the gym and recreational activity room. The auditorium of the university was fully air-conditioned and was like a theater of the 90s. Not so glamorous but wide seats and split in floors. The university’s infra has got all covered.

1st year was fun as I participated in some events and students from all departments connected with each other quite well. There was nothing called competition among departments as everyone cheered for each other. 2nd year was spent in the lab and even though I didn’t want to but had to spend my time away from the fun activities at the university. One should target the University for Graduation as they can have more fun along with studies in that tenure. In post-graduation, you will be stuck and can only watch others enjoy.
