Delhi Technological University B.Tech Review By Sahil

So, last year I got into DTU through JEE Mains, there have been ups and downs since the first day. But after a point of time, you will get used to it. At first, it was very new and everything seemed to be explorable but when you come daily here, it's normal as your daily life and becomes a part of it. It's been good till date and hope to be it well. I chose it because it's closer to my home than any other college and obviously it's one of the reputed and good colleges. Its chill on normal days, not much pressure is there but during exam time it gets hectic. If you want a good college life and placement after it, then you can go for this college.

As now it's become a university, so there are other courses as well but the primary one is B.Tech. In B.Tech there are courses like computer science, information technology, software engineering, mathematics and computing, electronics and communication engineering, electrical engineering, etc. For admission in B.Tech, you need pass the JEE Mains cutoff. You can give this exam during your 12th and give 2 more attempts continuously in the next two years. I enrolled just because I wanted a good college and placement after it because my family background is not so good. But otherwise, it's also a good college for other activities and if you aim for entrepreneurship, you will get guidance and others’ perspectives which will help you.

Faculty here is good if you are serious, otherwise sometimes professors also leave you on your own if you don't prioritize their classes. But not every professor does that, some are strict and there is also minimum 75% attendance criteria. So, you need to attend classes accordingly and they give many assignments so be prepared for it. In 1st year, I had maths in both semesters and both times my professor was HOD of mathematics but different persons because they changed the first one. Professors are highly educated and can help you if you are interested in higher studies. Teaching style as usual depends on their persona but mostly, they are good. But they are good if you don't anger them.

I am going in 2nd year this year and what I have noticed is that there’s a good environment for placements during the even semester because that's when students would be passing out. There is a separate building block for placement department. It will contact you and train you for placements during placement time. I don’t know much about it but the seniors talk about it and they say it's good. Placement data is also good which means there is a good placement ratio.

I am a day scholar so I don't live in hostel but there are good hostels, I think 6 to 7 hostels are there, the number could be different but yes, a good amount of hostels according to student numbers are there. In first year you will get 5 seater or 3 seater room which could be difficult to live in but after sometime you will get used to it. After first year, you will have to shift to a new hostel so you will get many options like AC or non AC, etc. Hostel conditions are good and there are also some new hostels which are not very old. I have been to my friend’s hostel so you can do almost anything but there is a guard outside who keeps an eye on anyone entering. Girls cannot go in boys’ hostel and boys cannot go in girls’ hostel.

When you will enter from the main gate, there would be three paths to go but don't worry campus roads are circular in shape so will come to the same point. There are separate academic blocks for CSE, IT, SE, and MCE which are newly built and completely air conditioned. But for other branches there are departments respectively which are old but in good condition. There is a Pragya Bhavan where first year students’ classes happen. There is a big sports complex with different grounds for different sports and a gym which is good. Also there’s indoor games equipment and all. Campus is big and sometimes you will have to walk a lot.

Campus life is good from what I have experienced so far. There is a big amount of students in college but the campus is big enough so sometimes you will see less people around yourself. There are many societies and clubs for students which you can join related to AI, cultural, dance, nature, etc. Fests are the biggest here, I think it's the largest and the best fest in Delhi compared to other colleges. The main fest is Engifest but there are other fests and summits going on at different times in a year. Engifest is around February and it gets very crowded and noisy because different colleges’ students come. There are many sports related things going on here and some others things to engage students which you will encounter.
