Indraprastha College for Women B.A Review By Neha Rajput

As I did my undergraduate from Indraprastha College for Women under the batch 2015-2018 in B.A Programme. It was difficult for me to find a good college but I was lucky. I have spent my three years there and have many memories of it. I was an active student as I engaged in dramatic society, creative & writing society, and NSS. I began my classes in the second week after the admission. On the first day, you will get the timetable sheet that helps you to know when and where classes are scheduled. If you find it difficult to understand the activities then don't worry, you have many volunteers here. Even you can directly contact to the office but as a fresher, I did face many problems in the first semester. Then after some time you will know the pattern and you will follow up easily.

You will have six semesters in your three years. I mean you have many things to do along with it. I observed that each professor is well prepared before taking a class. He/she will give you many exercises based on everyday activities. You will have class discussions and debates as you can give your opinion either it is good or bad. I would say that few professor teaching levels are below average. But you have to get a feedback sheet every semester so you can appeal to change class teachers. Adding to it, after classes you can join other societies to develop your skills.

I would say that most of them are well educated and give you a good direction and approach. They are having a both practitioner and theoretical approach. They will not only focus to complete your course but help you to know what is happening around you. But as I said that few of them are not very good to teach so you have a feedback form, if you don’t like their teaching style you can question them and change them. But if your majority of classmates agree. I felt that they are very supportive and gentle.

I tell you honestly that our course contains multiple subjects through six semesters including two disciplines: History and Political Science. That is properly scheduled with a timetable which will help you later to develop your skills. I am sure that this will open new directions towards your interest. As do many of my classmates doing gender studies, performing arts, marketing, UPSC, and B.Ed. I would say that it is basic knowledge that will give you the knowledge to explore on your own.

I was not in a hostel but I better know about their lives. Because some of my classmates were hostlers. If you do not waste your time in traveling, so KG hostel is the best hostel because it is in the college with full of safety. Girls are not allowed to go out after 8 pm and if it is an emergency you will get permission from the college ward. As I stayed in the hostel for two days during my annual production of drama, I would say that the room contains a large space and airy. And it is enough for you and your partner to share it. For food and other facilities, I say that you will get both veg and non-veg and it’s scheduled according to the week. Here you have the plus point that you can join gymnastic classes and swimming classes in the evening.

You will feel special when you get out of the college gate after day end. I mean it is beautiful. The college has all the facilities including sports ground, gymnastic, tennis court, library, swimming pool, and museum, etc. The library contains a big space having two floors with a lift. You have an IT center and many books such as daily newspapers, magazines, and different genre books. The campus also has a canteen. And the classroom has projectors but some were not working. That was what happened in every class. But you can have access to the report in the IT center that will help you to change it. I find my college is best in terms of space and infrastructure. It looks like a Mughal garden that covers large spaces with flowers and trees.

If you find a college where you are expecting to grow and want to live a college life. Indraprastha College DU is free from political turmoil as you have seen in DU College during an election. Especially females who want to take admission in Girls College because it is the best place to learn. You will remain engaged in day-to-day activities like NCC, NSS, Sports, Swimming classes, Debate, Drama, Dance societies, and so on. Because these classes continue till 7 pm. Students can do their activities if they want to create something of their own. It was a very experimenting journey for me in IPCW College.
