Uttaranchal University BBA Review By Aditi Gupta

Uttaranchal University is one of the most attractive sites in the city. There are many beautiful schools and colleges in the city, but still Uttaranchal is way above the rest. The University has 5 schools, and I was a part of their management school known as Uttaranchal Institute of Management. However, if you are a career-oriented student, then please avoid this college. 80% of the students are brats who are here just for fun or for the sake of the degree. If I was still studying, I don’t think I would have given this review because student’s negative views are always suppressed. The infrastructure has what made this University the favorite of the students. One can have such positive vibes when they are around or inside the college that they just can’t leave it. If I weren’t putting up in Dehradun, I would have stayed at the University’s hostel as it is so damn attractive. The college’s chancellor has an affinity towards political party Congress, which is why mostly politician kids are found here. In short, apart from Infrastructure, there’s nothing much to blow trumpets on about the college.

75% compulsory attendance like hell. If you don’t attend, there has to be a more than valid reason or else actions are taken. The classrooms will give you the vibes of some international universities as projectors, glass boards, and spacious. Once you enter the class, you are charged up, but once the lecture starts, everything just goes by. The teaching standard and methods are pretty poor. Hardly any practicals which are so very important in management studies but college believe in their own ways. All the published things that they provide exposure and take us on industrial tours are all fake. All they did was took us to Patanjali, which is located on Haridwar Roorkee highway.

UIM teaching staff were more like goons than the teachers. They mostly behave like goons, as I have seen them under alcohol’s influence after college hours. They misbehave with students at will, and during events, they turn the most amazing people by greeting everyone with a smile. Some of the faculty complained students that they are underpaid and their job is not permanent. All these frustrations was directed upon the students, and the chancellor has no business in listening to our complaints as they have the right to fire them even if they are not wrong. I am not saying all were like that because there were some able teachers as well who taught us with sincerity.

I challenge the college to name 10 students who got placed in our batch of 2018. To my knowledge, I don’t know anyone who got placed, but yet the website shows that these many companies visited and offered placements worth Rs. 6 lakhs. All these were fake publications to attract students who already are attracted by the college’s beauty. As I have said earlier, other than Infrastructure, there’s no positive about the management college of the university at least.

The huge campus is also home to 2 large girls hostels that have around 1000 girls staying in those hostels. Hostel life at the campus made my day as all my hostel friends would have something interesting every day. The hostels are only for students coming from different cities than Dehradun. Students of Dehradun have no right to claim a seat in the hostel, or else I would have tried the hostel life at Uttaranchal University. From facilities to food, everything about the hostel was amazing.

I can go on and on as I can describe every inch of the University. From law college to engineering college buildings, I have seen them all. UIM building was the latest of them all as management school was the last to get operational. Roads of the University are better than the city roads as one can land a helicopter on them. The university auditorium known as Swami Vivekanand auditorium was huge and remained in command for the entire year. The college has enough greenery inside that a breath of fresh air, which is hard to have in the city, can be easily sucked here. The college canteens and cafés were next levels. From a coffee shop to the multicuisine restaurant, the university campus has them all to make sure students spend every penny of their pocket money inside the campus. There’s a stationery shop, a gift shop and an ATM to pay your bills for all those shops.

Life on the whole other than academics, was fantastic. I have enjoyed thoroughly throughout, and all the gatherings, events had a special feel to them. All the colleges came together for events, and as a student, we had to be active because one can’t say no to all the occasions. Thus, even the non-performers became performers at the University. I said at the start, and I will say it again if you want to make a career, never join this University. If you are someone whose parents have done well for them in their life, then come and enjoy your college life at Uttaranchal University.
