Shanti Business School PGDM Review By Sagar Soni

Shanti Business School is an underrated college as many students avoid it as they feel the degree provided by the college is not valid. The student intake is therefore quite less but no point deferring because the college is one of the best. Infrastructure is epic, students are brilliant and sharp, and faculties were so dear that I have made them my mentors for life. The college offers PGDM in various discipline and the first year remains the common for all. More than campus, it was beyond classrooms activities that made SBS a step above the rest. The number of industrial visits, case studies solving, and joining live projects was equal to that of IIM Ahmedabad. A special for college library as it remained open for students till 10 pm. We made that a banter house as in 2 years at Shanti Business School, I hardly went home right after the classes. Being a Shantian was a proud moment but the Covid-19 ruined last important programs and I still wish; I could live those moments again at the college.

The study methods were little strange as books were never opened in classrooms. The professors would come and explain the whole subject, its important points and we have to collect all of those because it was almost impossible to figure out which chapter they have taught. Case studies solving remained an uphill task in all 4 semesters as not submitting them on time resulted in less CGPA. Academic part of SBS was extra ordinary as the momentum that was gained after the first week remained throughout until the classes were stopped in March 2020. Online classes too were fun as college made us Tech-Savvy in the process. Making presentations and how to present them was the best learning that I had at the SBS.

I initially called, Infrastructure a gem but if infrastructure of the college is gem, then faculty are super gem. They were so skilled and helpful that one can have their arms around them and ask them all that they want to. Going along with the faculty was easier than going along with some of the students. They would help us in each and every assignment they give and will mentor us throughout during the industrial visits. Their support and teaching is now ingrained within me as they were so impactful.

Placements were better than many. Most students got placed and some who didn’t were the ones who missed the placements by choice. Ahmedabad being the second largest corporate house after Mumbai of Western Indian, placements are not so difficult for MBA students. Not just praising SBS but almost all the B-Schools of Ahmedabad have decent placements. Top companies have visited SBS for years and even though the Covid-19 ruined the placement scenes somewhat, the college assured us that it will take care that students placements remain intact. Hats-off for such amazing gestures as college backs their students in all that they do.

Great hostels both for boys and girls are available inside the campus. However, out of 1000 students which is college strength not even 300 stays in the hostel. Either the college will have to pile up some courses or will have to popularize the college beyond Ahmedabad so that college hostels come to use. Thus, hostels are pretty much there and for those coming from outside, hostels should be the preferred choice as they can enjoy the college life completely.

The campus was big enough for the students of the college. The classrooms were amazing and more so the building. The colorful building was so attractive that one is just drawn towards it as soon as he/she sees that. The college library was great and one can study at the library for as long as 10 pm. The college has many areas which we made our den as on Monday we will have our meeting area in the lawn to the left of the college and likewise there were many such places inside the campus. The college auditorium which was around 500-seater was used on multiple occasions. College’s food court was beyond me as having that many food options made sure that none of the students bring their lunch boxes because one will always remain spoilt for choices. The college also had both indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, along with two world class gymnasiums.

SBS made us more serious as fun quotient became limited because of super hard studies. PGDM requires a lot of effort and all the effort in studies made sure that I skipped most of the events. There were some students who balanced both but it wasn’t my cup of tea, so I enjoyed all the events and functions as a crowd. The college has some super cool clubs and club culture of SBS is definitely one of the best.
