Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University B.Tech Review By Meena Pandey

I did my B.Tech from Dev Bhoomi, which went well for the entire 4 years of my studies here in this college. The university is accredited with the AICTE, which allows it to follow the semester and the courses that the other government colleges in Uttarakhand would follow. There are so many courses available in this college. I decided up with engineering because I had a background in science in my school followed by my curiosity about studying engineering. In engineering, you will get pretty much all the branches here to opt for. The admission process is done through the JEE mains rank. Although, the cut-offs for this college do not get very high, so you can easily place your bet on this college even if you have scored a decent rank. Moreover, if you have performed well in your boards, you could also get direct admissions here through your board's percentage.

The real reason behind my joining this course is I wanted to make my career in engineering because I was inspired to opt for practical training. You may have heard that B.Sc courses here in this college are far more popular than B.Tech ones and that is true. But the engineering course is a worthy option to opt for. If you have even the slightest interest, I guess you may pursue engineering. Because placements-wise, B.Tech will be very helpful in landing a good-paying job, if that is something you’re looking for at the end of your undergrad. Otherwise, if you want to pursue higher studies you can look out for B.Sc too.

For our course, that is B.Tech CSE, We had 5-6 professors in each semester teaching us different subjects. For each semester, you will be having 5-6 subjects; there are approximately 48 subjects till you complete your final year. Looking at the stats like these, you might feel that this is so much a burden. But once you have entered, the difficulty of the course rises very gradually thus you can easily take the pace and complete your studies and also maintain yourself in other activities too. The teachers are going to help you with that. All the teachers in our course were very nice. There was neither delaying nor speeding up while completing the syllabus, which is a great factor to look up to.

As for me, I was not looking for placements, because I have decided to do M.Tech from some other college. Therefore, I didn’t sit in the placement rounds. Although I didn’t apply, people were very cheered for the placements and everyone was very excited and at the same time was working really hard as the placements were approaching near. Around 75% of students were placed in our batch.

Hostels here are fine and not very good. Although the campus is situated in a very beautiful location in Dehradun, hostellers can only go out once and sometimes twice a week for hangouts, which makes it frustrating sometimes. However, hostel life is amazing out there. You will rarely feel any problem inside the hostel neither about sanitation nor food quality. Both of them are maintained nicely. Moreover, hostel-warden is strict so you have to maintain enough discipline in front of him. Many students don’t go to hostels as it is expensive in comparison to renting a room near college.

The overall infrastructure of the building is fine. It is not too modern. Few classes were equipped with smart classes also while I was there 7 years back. Also, there is a huge playground which often hosts the cricket matches played among the students. You can keep yourself busy in sports. There is a good chance you can do that because the sports facilities were nice. Also if you consider a hanging out place, the campus is a beautiful place for that. There are nearby cafeterias, stores and eat outs which are just fine. I hope there are even more facilities now than it were before in my days. Even then it was something to remember.

Overall campus life for hostellers as well as day-scholars was nice. There will be no issues at all. Also, one can develop so many skills by engaging in numerous competitions and events that happen here. When I first came here to when I left the campus I had already developed a lot of skills that are very helpful in my personal life as well as in professional life.
