IIT Kanpur Placement Office is managed by IITK students

The best thing that has ever happened to me is getting admission to this college. I was too much shy and introverted but the opportunities I got here have been great. There is a well-developed Gymkhana which has societies, cells, clubs, teams, etc. If you are in IIT Kanpur, then all of this is going to be a part of your life. The academics are great but difficult, but if you work on them, they're very rewarding. The campus also has a lot of space dedicated to studies with central air conditioning and fast wifi speed, like a library, Computer centre, Student Lounge, and many more spaces. Take a quick ride there and study / work peacefully. If you want to have high quality academics, campus-life, placement opportunities, then IIT Kanpur is your go to.

I am an undergraduate student here. The undergraduate program is of 4 years, B.Tech or BS. There are hardly any differences between B.Tech and BS. The degree for both lasts for 4 years, and it is a credit-based system. The credit of a course is basically the amount of hours you're supposed to dedicate to a course on a weekly basis. On average, you're supposed to complete around 400 (this number varies a little from department to department) credits in 4 years. This consists of Institute Compulsory (IC) courses, Departmental Courses, Open Electives, HSS, etc.

IIT Kanpur has faculties with a great educational background with minimum qualifications being Ph.D from esteemed colleges throughout India and abroad. They have full authority over the courses they take and can sometimes be harsh on the students. Sometimes, their teaching skills are below par. Also, a lot of UG students work under them to gain valuable research experience, and they're always very supportive.

Yes, IIT Kanpur has a Student Placement Office. It is a well-developed organization managed by IITK students in 4-tier hierarchy and most IITK students register with them to gain internships and placements.

The hostels in which UG students is not that good. Only Hall 13 and Hall 12 are decent but the old halls have below average infrastructure and lacks basic amenities.

The large academic area of IIT Kanpur is its soul. There are 20 centrally air-conditioned Lecture Halls with projectors, internet and are very comfortable to sit and learn. Other than that, there are a lot of labs of different departments for research purposes. We also have different buildings for dedicated study purposes like library, CC, NCL etc. There are many canteens available throughout the academic area.

Campus life is great at IIT Kanpur. It begins during the first day with wing bonding sessions and a 10-day long orientation which is a great memory for every UG student at IIT Kanpur. There are many inter-hall competitions which are a part of the culture. From the very start, you get involved with many clubs, societies and eventually rise to power in subsequent years. The late-night walks are the best in the campus. There is no restriction on time spent outside the hall.
