IIT Kanpur Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

Academic block contains 20-lecture halls, a tutorial block and numerous labs. It also houses offices of deans, professors and registrars. It spans to area of 1054 acre, full of greenery and located in the suburbs of Kanpur i.e. Kalyanpur. It is connected to main city via road, rail, and metro. Classrooms are fully equipped with modern infrastructure and have ramps for specially abled students. Library contains about 2.5 Lakh volumes. The institute has 2 auditoriums. There is canteen in each hostel and canteens in academic blocks, which runs 24/7.

Overall campus life is great. The campus community leads a disciplined life, at least in public sphere. There are varieties of clubs catering the needs of students. I am part of 2 clubs, namely Astronomy Club and Hindi Sahitya Sabha. There are various fests organized by students itself. Three main of them are ‘Antaragini’, ‘Udghosh’ and ‘Techkriti’. IIT Kanpur has beautiful infrastructure and it is so better than many top institutes in India. It has a very green campus and is pollution free because it has only electronic vehicles inside the campus. The campus also has beautiful viewpoints. Especially in winters, the campus looks so beautiful. If you want to explore the institute, prefer nighttime. It is so peaceful at that time to get the best experience of the time you invested.

Having a total campus area of around 1,055 acres, IIT Kanpur has awesome infrastructure. It has an academic block which has 20 air-conditioned classrooms of different sizes with capacity ranging from 100 to 500, tutorial blocks, and the famous PK Kelkar library which fulfils the need of books of students of the entire campus and contains over 2,50,000 books and around 1,900 journals. Every department has its own department building which facilitates the students to study in their respective departments, have faculty apartments and shopping center for the residents and a petrol pump too. The infrastructure of IIT Kanpur provides every possible facility to their residents.

IIT Kanpur is well known for its impassive campus life with numerous clubs and societies in various fields of interest such as cultural, science and technology, sports. Some of the cultural clubs are dance club, music club, drama club, Hindi Sahitya Sabha, fine arts club, English Literary Club and many more. Some of the science and technology clubs are robotics club, aeromodelling club, electronics club, finance club, etc. IIT Kanpur has its cultural fest named Antaragni which has a budget of about Rs.1, 00, 00,000/- annually.
