NSHM Kolkata Hostels provides good stay and food

NSHM Kolkata is one of the renowned colleges in Kolkata and West Bengal. It is a good choice for pursuing the bachelor’s and master’s degree in various streams for the students in West Bengal and Eastern India. I got admission in this college in 2021 in the B.Pharm course. NIRF ranked this college in 60th position in 2020. This college has a NAAC A+ accreditation. It has good placements, academic records as well as a good record in co- curricular activities.

I am a student of Bachelor of Pharmacy. In this course entry is through the entrance exams WBJEE and JEE Mains for the students who have passed 10+2 with the mandatory subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students who have done their diploma in Pharmacy can also enroll in the B.Pharm course from the 2nd year through the JELET exam. It is one of the best colleges for studying Pharmacy in West Bengal. The laboratory facilities are excellent and the classrooms are digitalized. Students can also enroll into the Master of Pharmacy after Bachelor of Pharmacy through the GPAT exam. There are other courses here except Pharmacy like Bachelor of Optometry, BHM, BBA, MHA and B.Sc in Media Science, Nutrition, etc. In all the courses students get a great opportunity of exploring their subjects. Along with academics, there are good opportunities to explore their field of interest in other areas like sports and cultural activities through the 5 co curricular centers of this college.

The faculties of NSHM Knowledge Campus are among the top most faculties in West Bengal. They have master’s degrees in their particular subjects. They have a minimum of 6-8 years of teaching experience. The lab attendants also have Bachelor’s degrees. The faculties are really very helpful. They are always available for us to clear our doubts. They help in projects and publishing papers with their experience and knowledge. They teach their subjects very carefully, clearing all the concepts for the semester exam and also for the exams like GATE , GPAT, CAT, MAT, etc.

There is a placement cell in our college. Placements of the students happen after completing their course. They help students get jobs in various companies. Approx 85-90% of students who sit for placements get jobs through in-campus placements. The placement cell also helps the students during off-campus interviews. The college’s NAAC A+ accreditation helps in placements too. Sun Pharma, Cipla, Lupin, Mankind Pharma, McLeod, Sun Knowledge, Wipro, MedPlus, Apollo Pharmacy, Alembic, TCS and IQVIA are among the companies that come for placements in this college. The students of this college are groomed by the experienced faculties for the placement interviews, this is very helpful.

The hostels of this college are of good quality. There are two separate hostels for boys and girls. In every hostel there is a hostel warden, cook and cleaning staffs. Students can choose for AC and Non-AC hostel rooms. Students are provided with meals 4-times a day i.e. breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Ragging is strictly prohibited in the hostel. The hostels have strict rules and regulations, for instance it closes by 9:30 p.m. No one is allowed to enter after the gate is closed.

This college has a great infrastructure. There are two separate building blocks for Health Science and Management Studies named as NSHM School of Health Sciences and NSHM School of Management Studies. There is a library in each building. It has more than sufficient books. The students of every course are allowed in all libraries. Along with books, the library gives us access to e-books, online journals and research papers. The digitalized classrooms are very good and have AC facilities. The labs are of high quality, having new machines and other lab accessories which are calibrated regularly. The seminar halls are very good too. Buildings are taken care of regularly. There are separate washrooms for boys and girls in every floor.

The campus life is very good. It is a ragging free campus. The college authority looks into this matter very strictly. There are 5 co curricular centres; Uday (the centre for sports and wellness), CLC (the centre for communication and language), Outreach (the centre for social action), TAG (the centre for innovation and incubation), Aangan (the centre for innovative and performing arts). These centres help to explore and develop the students in areas other than academics. Students come here from all over East India. Two fests are arranged in a year, i.e. Log In and Sandbox. Students are given the chance to perform and show their talents as well as abilities in different fields. Sports activities like cricket, football, badminton, basketball, kabaddi and athletic tournaments are organised. Various seminars are held by the college on different fields and topics. The seniors are very helpful as they help us in studies and placements.
