Kirit P. Mehta School of Law admission criteria includes the NLAT Exams

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies is one of the leading deemed-to-be universities in India. With its prolific exposure to law, in 2014 NMIMS opened the Kirit. P Mehta School of Law. It is one of the top private institutes. Being backed by NMIMS in a Law and Management degree benefits one's resume. I am currently in my 4th year and over these years I have had a wonderful experience within the college, be it the yearly fests, events, moot courts, or other competitions. I have had opportunities to participate in events conducted by other institutes in India where the faculty has guided me thoroughly. I think joining this institute will allow anyone to experience the law curriculum that is at par with NLUs, relevant and contemporary and prepares you for the real world.

The eligibility criterion includes the NLAT Exams that are held online yearly. You can get in through CLAT and LSAT also, but first preference is usually given to students appearing for NLAT. A merit-based list is rolled out for selecting amongst the students for 300 seats (this was the number when I appeared, it might change every year as per the college mandate). There is bare minimum fee that needs to be paid to apply to the college that can be checked on the college's official website. BBA LLB has offered management subjects alongside legal subjects for over 5 years. In the first two years, there are essentially BBA subjects such as Business Environment, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing. As far as legal subjects are concerned, we have Legal methods, Legal English, Law of Torts, Law of Contracts, Law of Crimes, and Family Law. The course curriculum is updated every semester. The most beneficial aspect is you can enroll in any NMIMS School of Law in India and the course is the same for all institutes, which professes equal opportunity to everyone.

The faculty in this college is highly qualified. They try to push you to excel in your aspirations, be it class tasks or moot courts or research conferences that you participate in. They are extremely helpful and available at all times. All the faculty is experienced in their respective subject areas, and the hands-on knowledge that they will provide in person is invaluable for a law aspirant. The faculty tries to remain relevant by continuously participating in skill development workshops to help students perform better in class.

I am a member of the Placement Cell and I see that it works hard each year to conduct placement drives. Placement opportunities come from all top law firms including Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Khaitan & Co, Stratage Law, Deutshce Bank, etc. The placement drives are run for internship, paralegal, and trainee opportunities at these firms for students from the second year onwards.

I do not live in hostel, so I cannot say much about it.

For the Mumbai campus, do not confuse it with the glass building shown on the website. The actual building for law is Old Mukesh Patel Building on Narsee Monjee, JVPD Road in Vile Parle (W). The infrastructure is excellent with smart boards, Wi-Fi, and new furniture. There is no library in this building, but other libraries around colleges in this area can be accessed through student ID.

To be honest, campus life really is all about roaming around the JVPD Scheme from college to college. Considering the lack of space in Mumbai, the college buildings are huge but we do not have a proper campus. The canteen is good in all the buildings as I have tried food in most of them.
