NLAT & CLAT for Entry in Kirit P. Mehta School of Law Mumbai

Being a Law student gives you less time to be idle, you are always engaged in something productive. Be it either participating in Moot Courts, Arbitration and Conciliation or writing research papers. The college also has many committees hence students are engaged in some kind of extracurricular activities throughout the semester. The college has its own location advantages as it is situated in Mumbai, which is a hub for Law firms. So, students find it easy to get good internships.

I opted for BA.LLB (Hons.) because studying Law with Humanities course helps you understand in the practical application of Law, while dealing with real life issues. The Law school takes its own entrance exam, that is NLAT and admissions into various campuses are given based on your scores. The school also accepts CLAT scores. The admission process is online based. The college has a bi-semester pattern; each year you have two semesters therefore you have an end term examination for each semester along with internal assessments. The Bar Council of India designs the course curriculum. So, the subjects are of diverse ranges in both B.A. and LLB streams. The classes are equally divided and of approximately 50 students per class. There are 5 sections in each year, 3 are BA.LL.B (Hons.) and 2 are BBA.LL.B (Hons.).

The college does have hefty fees, but it does not have any increment every year. The fees are Rs.3,20,000 for my batch. However for each upcoming batch it has increased, the current new batch has a fee of Rs. 3,50,000.

The faculty members are really good, they are experienced in their fields and most of them have a PhD degree in their respective field. Many of them are practicing advocates, so they are able to give practical knowledge of the subjects as well. The teaching happens usually through smart boards using PPTs along with Socratic method of discussion pedagogy.

The college does have a placement cell, most of the students get PPO before they pass out of the college, as there are rarely any classes in the last two semesters and students are engaged in internships throughout the year.

The college, being in Mumbai does not have a huge campus for the infrastructure, but still it is quite lavish. We have biometric entrance, modern designed classrooms and hallways. There is cleanliness maintained by the college, and there are dryers and dustbins on each floor. The canteen is really good, it gives good quality food at very cheap prices. The law school has its own Moot Court Room for Moot Trials and functions. There are guards at each floor and the campus has good security. Conference rooms are also made at each alternative floor.

The campus life is really fun, the crowd is excellent; there are students from across the country hence you are able to interact with diverse crowd. The college has a lot of committees, like MUN, Debating, Moot Court, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Cyber Cell, Publication Committee, and many more. The college has its own annual fest and there are events happening of various committees almost every weekend. Hence there is a lot of fun happening in the campus throughout the semester.
