IIT Ropar: A Freshers Guide

Overall Rating
The entry to the campus is mind blowing, as the four pillars and the spiral are just awesome. IIT Ropar is well known for research facilities and foreign internships. A person interested in research should surely come and take admission in it. The campus life in the institute is good.
 

Academics Rating
My course is B.Tech in Chemical Engineering. My course generally deals with Fluids Dynamics and Thermo Dynamics. To enroll in this program you must secure a good rank in one of the toughest exam JEE Advanced. My motive to enroll in this branch was due to my sincere interest in this field.
 

Faculty Rating
Almost all faculty members are PhD degree holders and apart from that, faculty to student ratio is good. For example in my branch, there are 15 faculty members for 34 students. The teaching style of teachers is also easy to understand and the pace of teaching is optimum. The teachers are from different backgrounds, some from South India some from North India.
 

Placement Rating
Our institution has a placement cell. There is no doubt that it helps in getting students placed. The placement statistics of our institute is very good and placement cell plays a very good role in it
 

Hostel Rating
IIT Ropar provides with residential facilities. Our institute has 6 hostels 4 for boys and other 2 for girls. The hostel life is good. Hostels are well equipped with sanitary facilities and it has gym of its own.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is newly built. The institute was shifted to new campus in the year 2016. Therefore, the infrastructure is good. There are different buildings for different departments, and the institute provides with almost all basic facilities and amenities. It is a little far from the main city and lacks in some things such as food outlets. Apart from that it also has some sports inside the campus only such as TT and Badminton.
 

Campus Rating
It conducts 4 fests; Cultural, Sports, Technological, and Video Games. There are many committees such as BOSA, BOCA, BOLA , etc. The campus has many clubs such as Aeromodelling, Robotics, AIML, Alankar (singing), etc. There are clubs for Literature, Cultural, and Sport Activities too. The overall campus life is good but there are some disadvantages such as low food outlets and also the food outlets do not provide food with good taste.

    Actually, for getting a seat into IITs we have to clear JEE Advanced, and which is one of the toughest exams in the world. I thought to opt for this college because it was near to my city, and I am getting a seat in department of chemical engineering.     I will give my personal experience to choose this institute because out of 2nd generation IIT it is far better than others. This institute is better in term of research, better infrastructure, and better campus life.
