Overall Rating
IIT Ropar is a good Institute and it’s developing a lot. The name of this Institute also comes in newspapers. Overall, the research facilities are very good in this Institute. You will get various opportunities in this Institute. They will also provide the opportunity to go the Inter IIT, if you are good in the sports club.
 

Academics Rating
You get 7 to 8 subjects per semester. For Engineering students, they will get a subject named Biology in their 3rd year. The Institute conduct mid semester exams and end semester exams. They also conduct quizzes which takes place in the starting of the semester. The exams are held strictly. If you skip any of your exams, you will have to provide a medical certificate to the Institute.
The fee is Rs. 1,35,000/- per semester including hostel, mess, and academic fee. The students will also get a fee waiver according to their parent’s income.
 

Faculty Rating
Some faculties are good and some are average. The teachers will always help you if you face any problems in the academics. All professors encourage students to ask doubts. The professor also helps students in projects, etc. The Institute has both experienced and new teachers.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is placement cell in IIT Ropar. The members of student’s community are also selected in that. They organise events regularly to help students understand how hiring is done and what companies expect from them.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel experience is overall good. There are separate hostel for girls and the boys. The hostel gets cleaned regularly and the laundry service is also available. The mess food is average. There are not many restrictions at the hostel.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is good. Since, It is second generation IIT. The buildings are quite new. The campus has canteen, stationary, garden, etc. The classrooms are well maintained with AC facilities. The library is not big. In every department, one room is available for seminars. The auditorium is not so big and it can accommodate 800 students. Sports facilities are also quite good.
 

Campus Rating
My campus experience has been very good. Events are regularly organised. The cultural fest called Zeitgeist is one of the biggest fest of North India. People from other Institutes also come to participate in events. The tech fest called 'Advitiya', the sports fest called 'Aarohan', and the literary fest called 'Malhar' is also conducted by the Institute. A lot of sports competitions are organised throughout the year like 'Inter Year Sports Championship' (IYSC) and people to watch the matches.

    Actually, for getting a seat into IITs we have to clear JEE Advanced, and which is one of the toughest exams in the world. I thought to opt for this college because it was near to my city, and I am getting a seat in department of chemical engineering.
