Hello folks! Selection of College can be tricky and tedious task, I get it, and I’ve been there. Well, if you have Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) in your mind, let me help you with my first hand experience of exactly how it is to fetch a degree from DSCE. Established in 1979, this college surely holds a reputation and it is widely considered among the top five engineering colleges across Bangalore and also across Karnataka if you're pursuing KCET or COMEDK counseling for that matter. I'm currently studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering and having a decent time in this college. One should certainly put DSCE in the top college preferences.

The college has many engineering branches to offer. For EEE it doesn't take the nicest of ranks to get in, any decent rank around 20-30K can assure you a seat for a general category student till the last rounds (if you have any reservation that will make it even easier). The academic fees is around 1.2 lakh annually for admission through KCET, I'm not sure about COMEDK but it is around 2-3 lakh. They will charge you extra 20k in the name of building fees every year (I included it in the above figures). The labs are well equipped. The department building is not as aesthetic as compared to other departments. We don't have washrooms inside the department building that annoys me often. Overall academics is sorted I would say, they won't keep you hanging in the middle of the semester.

Professors are knowledgeable but rude. You should get hang of reading notes through PDFs if you're not someone who maintains regular class notes. The HoD is quite a renowned researcher full of knowledge but he's very strict. Overall, faculty may be a challenge before you learn the way to deal with them. If you are a sincere student then you won't face any problem I believe. They conduct industrial visits in each semester too.

We have a dedicated placement department of the college. There’s a dedicated placement cell in each department too. They keep on pushing students through various competitions and hackathons through IEEE especially. Last two years because of recession the placement wasn't a hit but the companies are desperate to hire "good" engineers any day so if you are well learned and skillful you will surely get placed right out of college. Apart from this we have separate department for leadership and soft skills training for all the students. They conduct a daylong session in each semester.

We have two types of hostels for boys, namely, NRI and Indian hostel, there's one girls hostel too. The fee is too much I feel, but the rooms are spacious and clean. There is a nice dining hall, vending machines and the food is average. Nearby you'll find a basketball court, lawn tennis court, football ground and there's a TT table in a room. We have a spacious and well equipped gym too but it is separately paid (cheaper than gyms outside campus). Gate closing time is 10pm, extends to 10:30 for boys.

Infrastructure is quite aesthetic. Each building has a separate architectural design and security is top notch. The classrooms are equipped with smart boards and not so nice benches. House-keeping is consistent. Sports infrastructure is below par. But for cultural activities we have very nice auditoriums and practice rooms. If you are someone who enjoys performing arts then DSCE has it all.

We have two annual fests; Vibrations (intra college) and Furore (inter college). These are one of the most popular and anticipated fests in the city across all colleges. There is Centre of Performing Arts (CPA) department which organises all the events conducted in college. It has 19 clubs in it. Overall it offers a rich social and cultural life. The crowd is famous, many says probably the best you can find in Bangalore. It has lush green campus with beautiful rock garden and three canteens. there are a lot of places to hangout. The campus spreads across 30 acres and the locality is very happening. You'll find everything you need. Complete Kumaraswamy layout is filled with DSI students. There are two nearby metro stations. You’ll get to experience a true Bengaluru city life while studying here.
