A beautiful lush green campus covering around 300 acres, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology is situated in the main city of Nagpur. Around 10 Km away from airport and 7 Km away from station, our campus has a very good connection around the city. People know about our institute so transport for new students will not at all be a problem. You will get to interact with students from different states and culture, meaning you will learn new things too. Various activities, fests, etc. take place almost the whole year so students are always energetic and it is really fun for them. Competition among the students is there so that you can get better with time. This institute has a good NIRF ranking and also a good placement statistics which is why I chose this institute.

My course is Chemical Engineering. First year for all the students will be same. From second year, you get your allotted departmental courses. Chemical Engineering is moderately difficult branch, not too tough not too easy as students find some subjects a bit difficult like Chemical Reaction, Engineering and also Transfer Phenomenon. You need to have 0 backlogs for being eligible to sit for placements (including in elective subjects). Candidates need to appear in JEE Mains exam and achieve the ranking below 30k (general category) to be eligible for the admission in this institute. Next step involves electing the institute through JOSSA and CSAB counseling.

Professors of my department are really good. They help students in studies as well as in life problems. There are two major exams; mid-semester and end-semester. Professors try to cover everything to make you a proper Chemical Engineer. Students can reach out to them during their free time regarding some doubts.

Our institute has a good placement statistics. Companies like ITC, Fractal Analysis, HPCL, etc. took a lot of students from Chemical department during placements with average package of around 12 LPA. Highest package is around 64 LPA. For chemical engineering, it is 34 LPA.

There are 10 boys’ hostel including hostels for PG, UG and 2 girls’ hostel. There are new as well as old hostels. Not all hostels have good infrastructure likes washrooms and all. Rooms are available in double and triple sharing, which is more or else sufficient for students. Mess food is average and needs improvement. They are not coeducation hostels meaning boys are not allowed in girls’ hostel and vice versa. Hostel life is really fun, so choose hostel than living in PGs.

Our campus has a huge library with a lot of books which is sufficient enough for you to study properly. There are departments but need some improvements and updates. Auditorium is fully air conditioned. There is a huge CRC building where various students from first years get to study. New buildings for PG students in under construction. We have a very nice main entrance and very beautiful main building.

Institute life is fantastic. You will get to make many friends and get to meet new people from various parts of the country. Some fest or the other are happening throughout the year and students take part in all fests. Central India's largest Cultural fest ‘Aarohi’ takes place during the month of October for three days. We also have great tech fest ‘Axis’, every year during the month of March. There is also an IG (Institute Gathering), where students from all departments compete for different sports, debates, etc. This goes on for almost 10 days where students have a lot of fun and at last only one department is chosen as the winner of this IG.
