Travancore Medical College, Kollam: A good College to pursue medical studies

Overall Rating
It’s overall a good college. The competition is very high because the students get in through the NEET examination which is a very competitive exam and only the top students make it into the college. Among other self-financing colleges in Kerala this is one of the topmost colleges and most preferred.
 

Academics Rating
The admission is solely through the NEET exam and consistent preparation is required for that. Once you get into the college, the academics are very strict with regular examinations, formatives, sessionals, and internals. Also, extensive clinical exposure is guaranteed here as the patient inflow is very high.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties are very experienced people who have come from various Government colleges. They are very knowledgeable people and willing to help us in every step of the way and makes sure we understand the concept and know how and when to apply it. Be in Clinical Posting or in the classrooms, the faculties have shown full dedication to the course.
 

Placement Rating
No, we don’t have placements as such since it is a medical degree, but the college does help us to prepare for our PG.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, there is separate hostel for boys and girls. The food is average, but the rooms are spacious and hygienic.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is really good for a private college. It is only at a walking distance from the college to hostel and the hospital thus, saving a lot of time and energy. All the labs are well equipped with the latest technology and the hospital is one of the most popular ones in Kollam.
 

Campus Rating
Compared to a Government college the campus life is a bit boring, but we do have a lot of activities and club activities here. There is an Annual Arts Fest which is the main highlight. There are also many sports activities since we have a big ground. There are also other frequent programs like Onam, etc.

    The college has great infrastructure and a well equipped library. each batch has almost 150 students. Final year is purely for internship and this is when the students learn how to deal with real world problems first hand.
