The NorthCap University B.Tech Review By Sameer Ahmad

I studied at NorthCap University from 2013 to 2017. There are many angles to look at the university because it was mostly good in a lot of areas but just some refurbishing in some areas and then the university will become a dream university for students. Extra-curricular activities of the university are endless. Extra-curricular doesn’t just include fests and events but industry visits, seminars, workshops, and guest lectures. The university used to have all of this in abundance and that is why NCU was in true sense the best university a few years back. One active program of the university was SPA (Schools of Professional Attachment). There were professionals of sports and other activities who would train the students so that they can hone their skills. I recommended many people to join this university but came to know that SPA has become non-existent now.

The university’s infrastructure was adept in providing hands-on learning. University’s labs, libraries and research centers were amazing and provided a great experience in learning. Even the mentorship program of the university in which the seniors would come and help us on the topics that will be carried on in the next semesters. All these things were quite helpful as we knew the topics in which we had to stress more. While discussing all these things with my friends from other colleges like Dronacharya College of Engineering, and Sushant University, I came to know that this is the biggest USP of NCU.

Experienced and expert faculty were roped in to make sure that we get the best of them. I will also sing a few Bryan Adams lyrics for them: If you want them, you will always be the best of them. I mean every bit of what I have written because even though the students made fun of them in the running class, they took all of it so sportingly. In a way they have made all such students to come to shame because such highly graduated people staying quiet after insults is not normal. It was salt in the wound for students who think making fun of our teachers is funny.

If I was placed well by the university, I wouldn’t have attended any further college in my life. Apart from marks the Technical companies have introduced their own Japanese kind of test and those who clear that stands eligible for entrance. Since the university knew this from the start, they trained us in that and most students cleared it. This was a new thing for the tech companies like TCS, Wipro and Polaris as they didn’t expect that they would have such a wide pool to select from. Jobs were less and students were more, so some misses and some hits. I missed the bus but those who managed to find a seat are doing great today.

There were hostels at the campuses but because students of Delhi NCR were not eligible to stay at the hostels or even enter the hostels, I won’t be commenting much about it. The hostels were good and even the food served was good and that is all it requires to have a nice time at the hostels. One friend of mine who accompanied me to Bangalore for masters used to say that the hostel of NCU was much better than the one we put up at in Bangalore.

All those days when I went to college went well. I don’t know if the fountain just before the academic building or the garden with white red lilies that I used to see and smell daily was the reason for that. The college building and other facilities were add-ons because the way the garden and the roads of the campus are maintained, one will go flat at that only. The computer lab of the university was called the Learning Development Centre. The glass of the LDC would display new thoughts every day and just to check out those thoughts, I used to go to the LDC daily. There were facilities for 8-10 sports that are competed in the Olympics but nothing better than the basketball court which was built in a garden style. Last but not the least; I would include the university’s cafeteria which was named Café 10. I don’t know the logic behind that because the cafeteria had over 100 items on the menu.

There were many social and cultural societies at the campus. I will admit that I was and I am still an introvert so I didn’t participate much. The participants had a great time as there were occasions almost every month. My parents even thought that I am not going to the university as on the days of events we didn’t have to carry the books as classes were banished on those days.
