All you are left with at the end of college life is memories. I have been left with many memorable memories that I made at NIT Hamirpur. For nature lovers like me, this place was a paradise. However, to get into this paradise, one has to crack GATE and score big as NIT Hamirpur is the first choice for many. Growth here is stringent, but because NIT takes care of initial placement, you can enjoy the time of your life. The time that one spends away from home is the most crucial time, and for people like us who have never stayed away from parents could have been difficult if I was not at NIT Hamirpur. The course was so vast that managing the time smartly to get into the skin of academics was the best thing that I learned here.

I saw few people who considered themselves smart over others. We all cracked the same exams that they did, and that is how we all got here. So, besides books and learning the programming language, the biggest learning of academics was to treat everyone as special and equal. Soon, I realized this because the academics were such that taking help from other students was inevitable. Even though I was regular in classes and academics, the late-night studies were the last-minute study that helped me in and out. Thus, the school kid in you will be back as studying one night before an exam is something that can't be avoided even at NITs.

Needless to talk about their degrees, all of them were special and had Ph.D. in specializations. Some professors were on a contract basis too, and even they were smart enough as they gave their 120% to cement their place as regular professors of the college. The faculty-to-student ratio was also great even after having such a huge strength. The experience of the faculty members was nearly 12-15 years. The best part about the faculty was that they had kept themselves updated, and their teaching methods were modern too.

The surge was almost 60-70% as during B. Tech I was offered around 3.5 lakhs per annum, and after doing M. Tech, it was close to 5.5 lakhs. The companies that visited the campus for placements include Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS, and Oracle. All were looking for different skill sets and had their own entrance. The placement cell gave us enough practice of that, and therefore getting into the skin of that entrance became easy. Students were free to give as many interviews they needed as, along with big IT names, many new start-ups who have become a niche in their own fields like the Nazara Technology and Redington India also offered some attractive packages. The placement was close to 100%. One doesn't have to worry about the placements at NIT Hamirpur a single bit.

There are eight boys' hostels and out of which two hostels Himadri Boys Hostel and Himgiri Boys hostel, are reserved for Ph.D., M.Tech, and MBA students. The other blocks are for UG students. There were four to five girls' hostels also at the campus. Himgiri boys' hostel was the newly constructed hostels and had all single rooms. All the rooms had TV and attached washrooms. Every hostel building had their own dining hall, and students could choose from veg to non-veg food. There was also a recreation room at the hostel building, which had many indoor gaming facilities.

The college is located in Anu village near Hamirpur. If one is searching for peace, then they will not get peace any better than NIT Hamirpur. Even though the college is situated in terrain land, the campus has all the modern systems updated. The campus's architectural and structural design is excellent. It's a little far from the hills, so there is no snowfall here. The campus looks like a yard of pine trees as there are over 10k pine trees at the campus. The campus is, in a way, round in shape. There are three main gates of the college, but exits are barred from gate number 3. There are around 30 buildings on the campus, and all are in good shape. Some were newly constructed, and the latest addition of the infrastructure was the open-air theatre or the amphitheater. The lecture hall and library hall are amazing and have one of the best possible views. There are two bridges inside the campus as to go to the auditorium hall; one has to cross the wooden bridge. Sporting facilities were amazing as one can play outdoor sports here at any given point. The weather permits that as even in summers, the temperature never soared above 35 degrees.

Since the college is in the hilly state, the college's annual function or cultural fest was called hill fair. The event was a close-knitted one as unlike in NCR where many celebrities and all are invited; here it was all student party. The campus has taught me how to manage things even in extreme conditions, and I would be always thankful to the college for that.
